Re: How Long Does It Take?

@DerekW

Another day and another message from PlusNet letting me know there is a delay with my order.

I know its annoying but I suspect its the automated systems just relaying an update from Openreach.

Dream on, @DerekW - PN, as a BT company, will not/cannot rock the boat.

You could always contact Clive Selby and get the DSO on the case.

That is an option I will be considering if there is no change by Monday

Ooops, apologies, @Mustrum - slight brain-fade error there, I  blame my age. 😁

Re: How Long Does It Take?

I decided to email Clive this afternoon and let him know of my dissatisfaction with how things have gone so far, I still have no fibre.

I sent the email at 16:00 hours and by 18:30 hours I had a reply back for the executive office who have looked into the issue and have stated they will resolve the issue and get me connected quickly.

They have asked a senior engineering manager to keep any eye on things and liaise with me.

Well I hope things do get sorted out quickly from here on in

Re: How Long Does It Take?

Further update

Just took a call from the "High Level Escalations Manager" who works for the executive team.

He explained that he has looked into the issues and said that they have identified the problem and he has spoken with the management of my local engineering team and asked that they get things fixed as soon as.

So far so good

I will keep posting updates as and when I have them as it may help others who face similar issues.

Thanks everyone for your support, suggestions and help so far, it is very much appreciated.

Re: How Long Does It Take?

Did they share the nature of the problem with you?

If this is a systems problem - one says yes, the other no - did they make a commitment to get the systems fixed?

You are not the first around here to have had complex issues on getting what should be a simple install delivered.

Re: How Long Does It Take?

He said my local network was fine and they had identified a problem with the light source at the CBT in the exchange.

Although he did not give a date for this to be resolved he did say that he expects this to be fixed very quickly.

Re: How Long Does It Take?

OK I am back with another update already, the red light on my ONT has now turned green!

I now have 2 greens lights on my ONT

Does this mean I am not ready to go and can connect up my router etc.?

Or should I wait for further confirmation that I am good to go?

I don't see why not. Assuming the circuit had been configured correctly for the original planned install and it only failed due to the fault in the optical network, then it should work.

Give it a try...

Worst case scenario is that the router will give a solid orange light, indicating no authentication if the circuit hasn't been configured. If it goes blue, you're good to go...

It went blue!

Guess I will connect my new router up and start configuring everything.

Great news!. I assume that was with a Plusnet Hub 2, did it self configure and pull-down your correct username/password.

Its been so now , remind me what your new router is ?

Re: How Long Does It Take?

@MisterW

Yes I plugged in the Hub 2 to start with and it auto configured.

The router I ended up going with is this one TP-Link Archer BE550 - Archer BE550 | BE9300 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 Router | TP-Link United Kingdom

Well it seems that the guy I talked with this morning was as good as his word and got things sorted quickly.

Thanks once again everyone who has contributed to this thread, it is very much appreciated.

Its surprising how quickly things can get done when the DSO gets involved😀

Should be pretty straightforward, set the WAN connection to PPPoE and enter your Plusnet credentials.
