(1) If I was to change email service supplier, could I take my plusnet email address with me? If not so I had to change my email address, would all those places I use my plusnet email address as my username (usually because they asked me to use my email address as my username) need to be contacted to change my username? I assume these places that use my email address as my username do that so they have my contact address without having to ask for it.
As already posted, you can't take your PN email with you if you leave. Where your existing email is used as a login username I expect you can access the settings for your existing accounts and change the details held, such as your current email address. Often it is not so easy to change an existing account username and you would probably need to ask the account administration about this.

(2) Is there a way I can stop all these Greenby problems on this post causing me to get all these "you have been contacted" emails? As there have been at least 671 posts on this subject, and I have nothing to add to the subject, it is getting a little irritating having to delete them from my In Tray. Basically it is only these Greenby messages I want to stop, not messages on other subjects.
I'm not sure why you should get so many email messages about Greenby. Usually you only get notified if somebody has posted a reply specifically to you. You can look under your username when logged on, under My Subscriptions, to see what boards you are subscribed to etc.

No it’s intended to show there are other cheaper alternatives to Greenby. I used STRATO in the past when I had a .eu domain which I could no longer use once we left the EU. If you were prepared for your email servers to be in Berlin, they were pretty good.

I wonder if 'Greenby' (ie Enix) care ?
Enix have had a bit of cash from BT to set up the 'Greenby' front and get to keep the money whether their vague semblance of a service works or not.
I have had my own domains, websites and respective emails set up for years, but want a separated 'conventional' POP3 email independent of the host (UK2) as a standby.
So I am looking in the free / very cheap category.

@redsox9 an email from Greenby support arrived yesterday afternoon (which I have just seen because it went to the "postmaster" box).
It says
Please check now. The issue should be fixed for your account.
Kindly test again and let us know if everything is working correctly.
Best regards,
-----------
I am getting emails though now - but also hundreds of spoofing emails from US Social Security
I mean - there are currently 927 spoofing emails from Social Security in the Greenby webmail Spam
PLUS 51 which made it through to my Thunderbird inbox.
---------------------------------
So the question is this - is this going to abate, or is there anything that can be done to stop it?

@redsox9 just to add - I cannot now SEND using Thunderbird.
plus this charmer arrived just now:
Who the [-Censored-] is D*vid? Go eat sh*t!
This from someone presumably annoyed at receiving a message where someone impersonating the Social Security Administration saying they need to download a security tool.
It's beginning to look as though Greenby initially cut me off because they too were responding to this malicious spam using my address. So what can I do now - except wait and see if the spammer continues?
If Greenby filter out all emails which mention my email address I'm not gonna get many am I?
I guess there might be thread for this sort of thing.

The spam deluge after the migration to Greenby is well-known. See:

Whether anything can be done to stop it I don't know.

I assume you mean BOUNCES of emails that pretended to be the US Social security department (with your address as the 'from') ?
It might be worth a direct report to the US SSA:
https://secure.ssa.gov/oig/scam/
as the origin IP address in the mail header and in particular the 'click here' URL should be of some use, as well as placing on record that your email address is being falsely used in the spam.

I will look at reporting the scam to the USA tomorrow.
I am too drained right now.
Thunderbird is now not sending or receiving again - back to what is was Friday afternoon.
And the number of scam spam emails in the SPAM bin is now 1,585.
Keeps going up.
I have updated my report/complaint to Greenby but their AI bot seems asleep or disconnected.
Good job Patient Access calls back on the phone rather than email. But PlusNet are sorting that out.
My bill goes up next month - then they disconnect the phone cos its copper.
I feel like a digital punchbag!!!

@mwwagain I've put these up here - but moderators just edit the information out.
Maybe if I post a picture you or the mods can black out the offending part

Could it be the scammer is reading this forum?
This email suggests it is possible - given the earlier comments about reporting

Images rejected as they add nothing to the discussion, include foul language and personal email addresses. Promulgating such email addresses, be they personal or other persons who are being spammed on this open public forum is counter productive in the fight against spam.

Kash Patel is excluded as he adds nothing to the discussion and uses foul language.

@Baldrick1 so how do I illustrate my problem now then?
What is PlusNet community response.
People who have received spam sent using my PlusNet email address have responded with various levels of abuse - coming back to me. One respondent has said they were reporting my PlusNet email address to the FBI.
I didn't sign up for this in 1994 @ £84 per year.
The spam seems associated with the Greenby transfer - as commented on by other users and confirmed by the timing of my own transfer. The only actual suggestion here was that I report it to the Social Security Administration.
Surely if I wasn't blacklisted before I sure will be now - by the full might of a state I have no connection with.

Re reporting scammers to the Social Security Administration.on https://secure.ssa.gov/oig/scam/
I would have to report my own email as the contact address for the scammer.
I would have to say I am still in contact with the scammer.
As regards did I supply further information to the scammer other than email address, phone number who can say - Greenby? PlusNet?
THEN I have to provide my full name, date of birth, all contact details including veteran status.
Fimally I have to declare whether I am receiving (US) pension, disability insurance, supplementary security inmcome.
THEN - the coup de gras - create a 5 digit PIN which will be known only to Social Secirity Administration Office of the Inspector General employees only.
Memorize the number and write it down.
I don't actually fancy filling in this form. It provided further information about me without any suggestion it will help cure my problem.
@Baldrick1 what is your view? Would YOU supply all your personal details in this way?
