Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Thank you.

It says there are no problems - so posted the complete bounce-back from the US Social Security

Its thinking right now.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Here os the response:

The bounce-back message you've shared is very concerning. It appears to be a phishing or spam email pretending to be from the Social Security Administration, and it contains instructions to download a "Security Update Tool," which is a common way for scammers to spread malicious software.

Since you mentioned that this message has nothing to do with you but is bouncing back to your account, there are two likely scenarios:

1. Account Compromise: Someone may have gained access to your email account and is using it to send out large volumes of spam. This would explain why you are receiving hundreds of "recipient rejected" bounce-back messages. 2. Spoofing: A spammer is sending emails and making it look like they come from your address (<redacted>@<redacted>.force9.net), even though they aren't using our servers.

Immediate Action Required

To secure your account, please follow these steps immediately:

* Change Your Password: Log into your Greenby dashboard and change your mailbox password right away. This will prevent anyone else from accessing your account if it has been compromised. You can find instructions here: https://greenby.com/support/knowledgebase/article/16

* Check Webmail "Sent" Folder: Log in at https://webmail.greenby.com and look in your Sent folder. If you see these "Social Security" emails in your Sent items, it confirms that your account was accessed by someone else.

* Do Not Click Links: Ensure you do not click any links or download any attachments from that bounce-back message.

If you are currently unable to send or receive legitimate emails, it is possible that our system has temporarily restricted the account for security reasons due to the high volume of spam being sent. Once you have changed your password, please let me know, and I can assist you further.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

I changed passwords as instructed

Greenby AI then told me to test the incoming email by sending in an email from elsewhere (Gmail in my case just now)
Nothing arrived either on the Greenby webmail, or Thunderbird

This is what it syas now!:

Live chat isn't available right now, but someone will reply via email during normal working hours.

We're sorry for the delay. Your ticket is in the queue and will be answered as soon as possible. This request has been logged, and if you prefer not to wait, we'll follow up by email. If you're unable to recive email to your registered email address, you can come back to this ticket via the Greenby help page when ready.

Super!

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

@ColdharbourDave Yes. I think this has been an issue for some time, it’s just got worse as it also now seems to affect some hotel chains. That’s why I’ve moved these emails to Hotmail/Outlook. At the same time more really obvious spam seems to be slipping through. It’s a complete mess.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Well yes - but in this case seems an email from my account - or more correctly spoofing my email address - has resulted in me being locked out of my email account by Greenby.

What will they say on Monday?

Thoughts?  Indeed.  As one who awaits migration (excommunication?) I’d like not to be kicked out until all these bugs are dealt with.  None of us asked for any of this and most of us are capable but not expert.  Plus has an adverising push on and I’ve decided that at my age shouting at the tele is pefectly acceptable.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

They are heading towards being a broadband only supplier more quickly than they probably planned!.  I’ve used a mail domain only supplier in the past but never transferred one. It was fairly painless and only 89p a month. If this goes on, I can’t see Greenby retaining much business from this move once the “free” period is over. Question is do people want to pay or use a free one?

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

(1) If I was to change email service supplier, could I take my plusnet email address with me? If not so I had to change my email address, would all those places I use my plusnet email address as my username (usually because they asked me to use my email address as my username) need to be contacted to change my username? I assume these places that use my email address as my username do that so they have my contact address without having to ask for it.

(2) Is there a way I can stop all these Greenby problems on this post causing me to get all these "you have been contacted" emails? As there have been at least 671 posts on this subject, and I have nothing to add to the subject, it is getting a little irritating having to delete them from my In Tray. Basically it is only these Greenby messages I want to stop, not messages on other subjects.

Thankyou

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

1 - No

2 - If it is ONLY a login, then no problem.

However if they are using the designated live contact email address as your login then no.  That would seem to be a really stupid way to do things 'Hey we send half of your login credentials in plain text' but a lot of places do that - some of which are ones that would matter if breached.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Get this - I've been out, but between 14:02 and 15:46 this afternoon Thunderbird collected 5 emails

There is therefore a gap between 15:08 yesterday afternoon and 14:02 today

Meanwhile I cannot now log into the email boxed on the Greenby website.

The site just hangs.

Should that image in the bottom read "Greenby Hosting"?
