Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

@MisterW  , @Townman Might the board move to 'Everything Else' - once everyone has been transferred to Greenby?

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

I would suggest that depends on the level of posts requiring advice on email. My guess is that, certainly in the early stages, there's still going to be a need for an email board. Maybe once the level of posts dies down then moving to everything else may be sensible ?

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

AFAIK there has been zero discussion about this board’s future.  There’s enough to do about getting there without worrying about afterwards.

There is no doubt about this board’s value as a useful collective space for shared problems; I have asked if similar might be provided by Greenby.  Again that’s not today’s concern.

As suggested by @MisterW the other company had its way of doing things.  This will be a wait and see matter.

 Fair enough, both - it was just my musings 😉 , but I see your points.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

I have read the message page about Greenby email, it is silent on a couple of critical issues.

Being a legacy email a/c we will expect to pay from the beginning and that is fine.

Currently we have 4 email addresses registered with our @xxxxx.plus.com account

1)  Will all 4 email accounts be transferred across & still managed as one group of accounts ?

( only my email a/c has been notified of the planned change )

2) Will the cost be £15 per year for all four email addresses or will it be per email address ?

That is what we understand

The charge is per account , so it includes all the email addresses.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

@PhilipHeyes

To be pedantry, clarification of semantics might be helpful here.

@account.plus.com is the ACCOUNT and that is managed (and charged) as a single entity regardless of the number of XXX@ mailboxes there are on the account.

For various reasons some users have multiple email accounts, each will be treated as a distinct entity.

Where an email account can be matched to a current broadband account there will be no charges for the first two years on that email account.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

I'm a Plusnet (copper) broadband (with landline) customer who has both the legacy standard webspace and ccgi webspace features on my single account.

Is there anything out there that gives any indication of how long it will be before the email and legacy hosting of my type of PN customer gets transferred over to Greenby?  Is it likely to be weeks or months?

No matter if not, I'll just carry on waiting for the notification email.

Thanks

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

See above.

The migration is multi phased.  When each cohort’s turn approaches individual account holders will be advised in a timely fashion.  Note the programme is running by accounts not customers.

The migration programme is expected to complete within a few months.  Web services migration will happen after email has moved, as per the advice published in the FAQ document.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

@stuck short answer is probably months, we've got a plan laid out where we start with some of the easier groups like customers who only have mail and progress through. We've said the CGI webspace, while not a massive set of customers is something that's a bit harder especially as some also have domains and standard webspace and email that those customers will move later in the plan just because there's more moving parts to understand.

Thank you for this extra detail, it implies my migration is likely to be later than sooner.  That's fine, no problem.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Along with a number of other metronet users my metronet emails were being returned to sender as undeliverable. One of these failed emails was from my bank; previous to this I had never over many years had any problem receiving my bank's emails. Corrective action resulted from the posts here about this problem. It was largely resolved and I have since been getting my metronet emails but with at least one very important exception. My bank has told me that my emails from them have continued to be returned as undeliverable and has given me this advice:-

We have been receiving recipient undeliverable status notifications for
this e mail address.
To resolve this the customer will need to have the below e mail domains
whitelisted with their e mail domain. Once done the member should be
getting all their future Emails without any issue, however, if this issue
does persist the customer will need to speak to the domain provider to
resolve as this is not a sending but receiving issue.
@notification.xxxxbank.co.uk
@email.xxxxbank.co.uk
@communications.xxxxbank.co.uk
@messages.xxxxbank.co.uk

I should be very grateful if one of you here could help with getting this advice actioned so that my bank's emails get through to me again.

Amen to that. I do not have a mobile phone and rely on incoming emails to verify credit card transactions.

My emails have been cut off since 2pm today. I am a disabled pensioner - and hospital governor.

Time to apply for assisted dying maybe. Nice knowing you since 1994 Force 9!

As at 9 pm my emails are coming in OK.

I wonder what caused the problem?
