Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

but perhaps because I'm new here

@Mount it is!. Maybe @plusnettony could send you a PM, you should then be able to reply to it.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Subsequent to a first post, it should be possible to send a PM - please try again.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

It's OK, we've communicated thanks.

I've managed to partially replicate an issue - however, as always in situations like this, the more examples the better. If anyone who hasn't already, could please PM me your bounces, I'll get them passed on to the best possible place.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

This looks to be sorted,  touch wood - many many thanks  @plusnettony!!   Was half expecting a big flood of backlog emails but of course nothing will have got beyond senders' email clients,  so no backlog.

It would be good though if PN (or indeed Greenby) could give us some sort of progress update on the migration - the only communication we've had states "from 19th May",  even if it's just to set the loosest of expectations.

Thanks again.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Aaaargh....  just clicked the "this fixed my problem" button,  'cos something was fixed,  but not the thread subject!   Is it possible to un-fix the thread?     Sorry for ineptness. 🙄

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

You just click post options on the post you chose as the fix and select “not the fix”.

Loosest of expectations - sometime before Christmas.  This is being done in phases by brand and by user usage profiles.  When your turn arrives, you will receive the comms.  Some have already happened …

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Thank you Tony - it seems you found ''the best possible place'' to pass this to. Fingers crossed it does seem to be resolved. Now trying to come to terms with losing a day and a half's worth of emails. Many of no consequence but others you can't know as you don't know.
As a newbie here I'm not sure of the etiquette but can we be told the detailed reason? Presumably Greenby related? My last message re Greenby said transfer would not start until 30 June. On the evidence here it seems few of us affected which in itself seems strange. My confidence in the Greenby process somewhat undermined but knowing the facts always tends to help in this sort of situation.
Thanks again, much appreciated and greatly relieved

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

It turns out the problem was external but I've not had a full report of the cause yet. I think it's fair to say it was prep work, rather than the transfer of any accounts.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Full metronet email TX/RX restored .

First email received 19/6/2025 @ 21:19.

I tried sending from my metronet account and that also works.

Is my metronet account still with Plusnet servers or Greenby?

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Simple question, but a complex answer.

Metronet logon is being fronted by the Greenby proxy server, but mail for each user will be where it is - on Plusnet if not migrated, on Greenby if you have been notified that it has been migrated.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

I transferred out my free domain name a number of years ago (for greater control over dns), will greenby allow me to transfer back in my old domain name to save me using cloudflare as I do now?

Specifically for email forwarding, but any webhosting would be a bonus

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

@teamdb if you have a domain, then I'd consider Mythic beasts https://www.mythic-beasts.com/hosting

If paid annually its £20/yr for email only, £30 to include web hosting on the Web 25 package.

Provides unlimited mailboxes and aliases ( subject to the disc space limit ) and you can host multiple domains on one account. Has SPF & DKIM as standard.

Add £7/yr for domain registration if you wish to move that as well.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Cheers, thats a good deal, 123-reg wanted more than that for a single mailbox and no hosting, hence the move to cloudflare

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

That's the problem with many of the hosting packages, if you are used to using multiple mailboxes then they work out very expensive. I've been with Mythic for a couple of years now. I currently have 4 domains ( 2 actively used ) , about 10 mailboxes and probably around 100 aliases.

Their support is via 'ticket' , no help desk phone, but they respond to a ticket typically in 30 mins and usually fix the problem first time.
