Hotmail rejecting mail from PN [Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 5.7.1]

Is there a rough idea of if/when this is likely to be fixed? I've had another bounce, outlook.com this time, and it's not great having to keep retrying throughout the day in the hope it might get through at a later stage.

Having suddenly lost my BB connection earlier this afternoon I was quickly on to  CS to ask them if there was a major problem.

CS checked and confirmed an Open Reach problem, whilst waiting for the reporting of the problem to Open Reach I broached the subject of these email issues. After a long but pleasant conversation about the problems it was causing for Plusnet customers during which there holds whilst CS spoke to a NW specialist the following answer was given.

After having a conversation with my colleague, I can confirm that there is a problem in regard to sending e-mails to Outlook domains, such as Live, Hotmail and Outlook. This is due to an unfortunate influx of scam e-mails being sent from plus.com registered e-mail addresses, which has now been investigated and resolved, however we are still awaiting Outlook to unblock the e-mail addresses when it comes down to distribution lists, and we are liaising with them as much as we can to resolve this issue that you, and many of our plus.com e-mail address holders are facing at this present time.

It seems we are in the hands of Microsoft Outlook! When they deem we're not a threat anymore then we'll see emails getting to their intended recipients. I am happy that Plusnet are trying to resolve the issue, I'm not happy it is taking so long for it to be resolved.

The broadband issue was resolved within minutes, an intermittent problem.

@Lordwotsit the most recent spam sending event was only 2 days ago,
we had spam messages from 3 different domains of plus.com

This 'Boots' spam sending pattern has recurred for almost 9 months.

@Lordwotsit If my understanding of the situation is correct we are not at all in the hands of MS. We are very much in the hands of Plusnet who have failed, and continue to fail, to secure their servers. It is not surprising MS keep blocking the Plusnet servers because Plusnet are repeatedly forwarding spam. It's a right royal pain in the proverbial caused by Plusnet being unwilling to get their house in order, presumably to save a few quid.

I am not particularly technical and wait to be corrected. But honestly it seems to me Plusnet have no intention of fixing this issue which is why no one from Plusnet addresses this thread. I have been a customer for approaching three decades. I know I sound frustrated. I am frustrated. 

Please @plusnettony, do correct me if I am wrong. I will apologise, eat my hat, and applaud the fix.

 You could well be right, but this is what I was told. Although unable to agree I think staff quite a few PN staff are pretty racked off with the situation.

And to cap it all Wednesday have been relegated, the ignominy of being sent to L1 by their Sheffield rivals.

Like Wednesday, Plusnet has been relegated after a string of  own goals by Greenby.

Not that I can tell.  I just sent test messages to my Outlook account and they bounced back.

I sent an email to someone with an outlook.com address at 21:00 tonight and it hasn't bounced so far. Yesterday I couldn't send to the same address.

If you are on POP3 did you check your junk folder in the Greenby website?

I'll take it back, same outlook.com as I emailed last night is now rejecting emails again.

This has given me the incentive to start the process of moving my domain over to Mythic Beasts (can't remember who here recommended them), as I've been meaning to switch my web hosting over for a while.
