Re: Hotmail rejecting mail from PN [Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 5.7.1]

Replying to whoever above me but I just tried to send an email to someone with a hotmail account and got the dreaded

"

Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 5.7.1 Unfortunately, messages from [212.159.14.XX] weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list (S3140).

"

(Removed part of IP just in case).

This has been going on for MONTHS now intermittently? I've mentioned it myself on the forum and there have been so many othe compalints.. Can it just not be solved? Sad

It seems not, which is why (after 18 years with Plusnet) I have got a new email provider. Yes, it's costing me money but it's worth every penny as I can now send messages to MS addresses without error.

A closing note from me, the OP of this topic. If you read the post before this one you will see that I've given up on PN email.
I'm still in the process of letting my contacts know of my change of email address, and am likely to doing that for a while yet, but it's worth all that hassle to once again have an email system that works without error.

@MisterW Sending to Outlook is still broken:

Any chance you can poke someone to get more details?

Whois IP 84.93.230.227

"BT" 😊

Perhaps the question is (or should be?): Who is in charge here?

If not Greenby (IMO it frequently isn't), then Plusnet or BT?

Re: Hotmail rejecting mail from PN [Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 5.7.1]

Is Greenby webmail also going out via plusnet owned servers as posts on here are saying headers from bounced email sent via greenby webmail are showing enmail.co ?

Also, what are the settings inc ports for 3rd party email clients as there seems to be various sources from both plusnet and greenby that differ for the same plusnet brand. A link to which page has the definative details would be great.

Re: Hotmail rejecting mail from PN [Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 5.7.1]

@njay

Here is a line from an email I sent to myself at a BT Email account from my Greenby account via webmail;

Received: from kayla.gateway.enmail.co (91.204.211.108) by btprdrgi023.btinternet.com

It was classified by the BT Email system as "Spam". 🙂

X-RazorGate-Vade-Verdict: spam 107

I don't use client email software, only Greenby Webmail. However, the current setting are given online at the Greenby Portal and are:

Email Client Settings
Incoming Server Address imap.plus.net
Protocol IMAP
IMAP Port 993 (Encryption Enabled)
Outgoing Server Address relay.plus.net
SMTP Port 465 (Encryption Enabled)

If you prefer to use the POP protocol rather than IMAP then please use port 995 with Encryption turned on

If I were using client software I would stick to using the above settings which are found on the Emil/Settings page of the Greenby User portal. Many variations of the above have been given in the past by Plusnet and by posters on this forum. If I were using such software the above are the settings I would stick to. They also align with the recommended settings for client email software given by Cloudflare:

Cloudflare

What SMTP port should be used? Port 25, 587, or 465?

@plusnettony Re #230 and #231

So when are the problems sending to gmail and Apple addresses going to be solved?

Re: Hotmail rejecting mail from PN [Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 5.7.1]

@pvmb

Appreciate that is what one page on greenby says but elsewhere on greenby it lists different ports & servers. Searches for results on plusnet pages comes back with similar variances hence my request from plusnet staff for definative link that we can all point other forum members to
