Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

I do wonder too how we can tell if we have been migrated or not. I got an email from PlusNet in December telling me about this Greenby migration and that my email will be migrated on/after 19-Jan, and that I will subsequently get an email from Greenby to tell me how to finish set up of my new Greenby account etc.

I haven't heard anything since. I have not changed settings on either my Thunderbird (POP download) or my phone Gmail app (IMAP) and they still seem to be working OK. I am not as tech-literate as I like, so don't want to randomly try login into things before being told, in case it messes something up.

I have no idea how long I should be waiting for before making further enquiries on what to do next, or if there are any problems or not. I think some better communication to set expectations or keep people updated on progress would be helpful. Having to go into these forums and reading so much about other people's experiences going wrong makes me worried rather than informed.

@SimonC1

"I have no idea how long I should be waiting for before making further enquiries on what to do next, or if there are any problems or not."

It was 4 weeks after the date we were given before we were actually migrated.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

Thanks. I will try not to worry about it yet then. I have had my PlusNet email for so long and have so much connected to it that I had very much wanted to keep it, rather than get a new primary email and change everything. This migration and reading about issues in the forums is an ongoing source of anxiety for me.

I am hoping that because my set-up is simple - no websites or domains, just the default Postmaster + personal email arrangement - would mean I should have any problems. Fingers crossed.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

After the initial problems with loss of all emails it seemed to settle down as my inboxes came back to life. Unfortunately, there was another outage last night. Thunderbird reported that the mail server was not responding and/or my credentials were wrong.

I ignored requests to reenter passwords/user names and it now seems back to normal.

Let's hope these are teething problems and things will settle down.

I don't know if Greenby has a forum like this one but it would give me a bit more confidence if they did,

Going forward, I don't want to rely on a bot-driven company that has no practical way of contacting a responsible human being.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

Well the same thing seems to be happening this evening Sad

I'm getting the 'enter your user name and password for the following server' error message - this has been happening for the last hour. I do ignore it BUT yesterday evening, I ignored it and spent hours waiting for a code for 'dayforce' - it didn't arrive.

I sent a complaint to 'greenby' and went to bed because no mail was coming through no matter how many times I hit 'send and receive' - is this really the shape of things to come?! 😭😡

I'm trying to hold off the stress of finding a new email provider, but I'm not sure I'll last the 2 years if the server keeps giving up the ghost after 23:00hrs.

And to think they have the nerve to advise that they will be charging for THIS SERVICE after 2 years! I'd like to know how many of us will remain with them after the 2 years is up! 🤔

It's all still down this morning. A disaster or what?

Greenby seems to be developing an immunity to kicks.

Mine is working now, having just checked it for the first time since last night.  I am horrified to see tthat it only came back an hour ago.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

Like  SimonC1 I don’t really know whether my account has been migrated or not.  I raised a ticket with Greenby this morning:-

“I’ve had five emails from you saying that my service has been migrated from Plusnet to Greenby – yet when I log in I get:- “Your Greenby login will only be activated after your migration is complete. We'll notify you by email as soon as it's ready”

Presumably this means that my service still has not been ‘fully’ migrated?  As a couple of others have mentioned the service was off this morning but has since recovered…

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

I'm getting the server issues just now, so another problem! Goodness how unstable is this email server of theirs?!

I've hit [send and receive] but it's only sending email, not receiving.

Support at Greenby replied to me today to say 'the email server is working now' - how useful is that?! It wasn't working yesterday or at 1am when I reported the issue.

Bad to worse 😭😲

Yes, seems to have died again.  Absolutely infuriating.

Me too.  This is worse than infuriating; it's a disgrace.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

I use an email client and it's reporting "login failed" to get them the normal way.

I tried greenby webmail and it said something about storage server not being able to connect .. now it's saying account not available or something.

I thought perhaps in this modern fancy web services age providers could spin up more server ummmmmmf on the fly to handle bigger loads?

Maybe they've just a fixed set amount of server capacity that is just overloaded (that's my guess...).

Pants though..

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

I am also receiving 'server error' messages again. Thunderbird is trying to connect but eventually times out.

Teething problems or fundamental issues?

...and now I'm getting 'log-in failed' errors. Sad
