Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

Well to bump/update my post.....

Having set the Anti-spam from 5 to 4 it is hard to say if that had any effect.

Because I am still seeing spam to the same three of my 8 mail;boxes (plus the mailbox that my wife uses so 4 out of the 9 mailboxes in total).

I have set up filter rules but some still comes through, requiring either a review of the current filter rules or simply en bloc transferring of the miss email marked as Spam to a 'to be checked folder' (to avoid the risk of missing the few 'mis-identified ones').

As I and others have mentioned...

In all the many years of being a PN customer I have never experienced such Spam problems including the slew of infected emails that my anti-virus software intercepted & cleaned.

Furthermore, the Greenby Ticket I raised on the 22nd December and bumped on the 6th January is still 'In progress' and remains unanswered to this date......with never an acknowledgement that it exists (other than the AI bots replies).

Though this is not a yet a customer paid for service, I can only surmise that PN have paid Greenby a not inconsiderable amount of money to provide this service but who is getting the value for money?
Highly questionable that the migrated customers are seeing actual benefits of the move at this time.

Talking of time, only time will tell if Greenby are listening and will improve the service to reduce (even better avoid) Spam getting through.......back to the good old days that we all enjoyed under PN ~ I live in hope Smiley

Hello Leanne,

Thank you, I had carried out virus scan and changed the password but it made no difference.  I'll do some more tests and send you a private message.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

Hi,

As per the original “Greenby Webmail Flakey” they’re obviously still having problems…

A couple of days ago I got two emails from Greenby:-

Hey (my user name)

We’re excited to welcome you to Greenby, the new home for your email service! The migration of your email has been successfully completed, and all of your existing messages, contacts, and settings are safely in place. With Greenby, you can continue to use your exisitng email address with the same login details

I’d already had four similar emails mid-December:-

We’re excited to welcome you to Greenby, the new home for your Plusnet email! The migration of your email has been successfully completed, and all of your existing messages, contacts, and settings are safely in place. With Greenby, you can continue to use your Plusnet email address with the same login details

Almost identical except no mention of Plusnet in the latter emails…

When I go to log in at Greenby.com I get the following:-

Your Greenby login will only be activated after your migration is complete. We'll notify you by email as soon as it's ready.

I presume everyone’s getting the same?

This morning (~9.30am 5th Feb) the service is down:-

Authentication failed. Your email account could not be authenticated.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

So just when you think its safe to get back in the water and you find its not!!!!

I just logged in to my main email I use only to find all my folders and contents have gone inbox is empty and all folders created are gone along with very important emails and documents. I thought maybe its Thunderbird playing up so I logged in to Greenby's web mail, no its all gone everything to say I am [-Censored-]ed off with this mickey mouse outfit is and understatement.

Just before Xmas It had all settled down and everything started to work as it should and I was going to give the service the benefit of the doubt, maybe I was being optimistic?

I have submitted a Tech support request on Greenby's portal not that I expect to hear back as I haven't in the past. Is there anyone from This forum who can look in to what's happened?

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

And now it’s back up again – connecting/disconnecting very fast.

Another concern I have is that whilst when the system is working I seem to be getting and receiving emails normally, however I was quite surprised – and worried as when I connected to Greenby via webmail a couple of days ago there was a lot of emails there – some that had been sent some days ago but which had not arrived via my normal email client (OE Classic Pro).  Is this some sort of filtering issue?  It does mean that for now I need to use Classic Pro AND webmail to ensure I don’t miss any mails…

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

Well I did get a reply from Greenby not sure if it was AI generated, but apparently they were having some technical issues and I should be back to normal by the end of the day.

I have just checked my Greenby webmail and everything appears to be back to normal for now and refreshed Thunder Bird and again all ok, its still not stable enough to rely on it yet in my opinion.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

It's about 24 hours now since I was migrated but my Thunderbird folders are all still missing and the only email I have received in my default inbox is the 'welcome' one from Greenby.

I logged-in to the Greenby website using my plusnet credentials and finally got through to the portal only to be met with a completely blank page!

I had to refresh it manually before I finally got into webmail and...there are NO emails to be found.

Is it likely they will appear before long?

I'm not exactly happy about this. I currently have no email and no way of accessing it. Sad

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

Just to update the above, My Thunderbird email has just started coming back to life though it looks like I will need to recreate my subfolders as they are all now missing.

To be fair, Thunderbird never worked 100% with plusnet email so here's hoping Greenby might even be an improvement.  (😳).Time ill tell...🤔

The Greenby webmail portal is at least a bit more polished-looking than the old plusnet one.

Weirdly, I've just received an email from plusnet (dated ten minutes ago) which reads as follows:

Not using our outbound mail server? You'll find this useful.

We're about to upgrade the way our emails work, meaning if you currently send yours through a non-Plusnet server, we need you to check that your outgoing server settings are up to date. If you've never altered your outgoing server settings, you can ignore this. However, if you have, read on.

Your outbound mail server needs to be set to relay.plus.net to ensure your emails keep working after we've made our changes. If it's already set to that, or you just use webmail - great news, you don't need to worry.

Not set to relay.plus.net? You know what to do.

It's a little thing that will make things work a lot better.

Any questions? No need to call. Just take a look at our guide where you'll find everything you need to know.

Is this correct or relevant to Greenby?Huh

Hi @Bookworms

Guessing the words "our guide" in the e-mail, was linked to a page on the PN portal (?)

If you could post the address of that page, here, that would be appreciated, thanks  Smiley

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

Hi,

yes there was a link that directed here:

https://community.plus.net/t5/Email/How-to-change-your-outgoing-server-on-a-mail-client/td-p/1606155...

As far as I can make out, this shouldn't apply in my case.  Wouldn't it make more sense to send a guide that is specifically aimed at those of us just recently transferred to Greenby?

I admit to always finding email set-ups a bit of a bind but I don't quite undertand how/why if Greenby is a separate provider, how/why does it use the plusnet relay settings ?

I have managed to send a few test emails since the transfer and they appear to be working ok.

*Edited to add: in my Thunderbird settings the outgoing server (SMTP) is set to relay.plus.net

As I said, it seems to be working ok [🤞😯 ] and I haven't changed any settings since the transer.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

Having been fine for 3 weeks, it's down again!  Appalling attempt at providing an email service.
