Greenby.com down. Getting a blank screen saying "something went wrong."

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

Penny, I do agree your sentiment.

However, the evil of the piece really is BT. In their rebranding exercise, they appear to have downgraded Plusnet to leave themselves (BT) and EE as the main players in their: BT, EE, Plusnet Group.

Plusnet being the fallguys in this rebranding exercise - as, let's face it, Plusnet was simply one of the best ISP's in the country - certainly with regard their support service! They came across as friends and losing Plusnet (for me) has been like losing a family member or best friend.

Plusnet moved me on to another email provider - Greenby.

I wanted broadband with a digital landline, and requested this from Plusnet. They said sorry we don't do digital landlines and moved me on to EE for this service.

I then got a letter in the post from Plusnet: "We are sorry to hear you are leaving us." I didn't leave Plusnet, they got rid of me!!

Yes we can keep our email addresses, but in two years' time we will have to pay £15 pa for the privilege.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

You can still get into Webmail even if Greenby itself is down:

https://webmail.greenby.com/

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

Something went wrong? Something has been going wrong for far too long. The damage to the reputation of Plusnet and BT, its owner, will probably be as great as the 2024 consumer protection scandal when BT was fined £2.8 million by Ofcom for failing to give 1.1 million Plusnet and EE customers the required contract information before sign-up.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

The Greenby site seems to be back but without any of my email accounts.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

I have managed to send an email from one Plusnet account to another using Thunderbird but there is still no webmail and the ticket I raised some time ago with Greenby is not visible.

Greenby appears to be not fit for purpose.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

It currently seems possible to get to webmail by going to webmail.greenby.com and instead of using your Username, enter the full email address of the mailbox you want to view. The password is the usual User password for your account.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

My email service eventually appears to be working reasonably well though the speed varies a fair bit – but at least its working and for that I’m grateful…

I do find I’m getting more spam mails than I did with Plusnet.  I’ve had a couple, supposedly from Plusnet regarding problems with my account like other members have and also in the last few days some emails  from Evri regarding a parcel delivery.  One of these had a weird looking tracking number which I immediately deleted, but the last one – apparently regarding an “address incomplete” parcel looked more genuine with the appropriate number of characters – but Evri didn’t recognise it so obviously spam.

I did look twice at the Evri emails as I use Aliexpress occasionally and they use Evri but I’m not expecting anything.

I’m aware of these Evri emails but I’ve never had any when Plusnet operated the service…

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

After over 22 years of excellent service the last few months have been extremely disappointing.  My Plusnet addresses are effectively unworkable from Thunderbird and although webmail works it's awkward and slow.

The upsurge in spam for me started with the beginning of the migration.  Almost all are to only one of my Plusnet email accounts and most claim to be from Boots with some from others such as Evri.  Many of these are rejected when I try to forward to abuse@plus.net or report@phishing.gov.uk because they contain 'spam or viruses' which indicates the filtering (set to 5 in my case) is hopeless.

Like PNnewbie I’ve had some purporting to come from Plusnet Support so that when the Welcome to Greenby email arrived with a link inviting me to enter my Plusnet username and password I was wary.  I could find nothing on the Plusnet site to say if my accounts had been migrated so I phoned and found that they had.  It would have been useful to be able to see on the Plusnet site that the accounts had been migrated and an email from Plusnet as well as Greenby.

I had reported some problems to Greenby and they said:

'I understand you are encountering the error “blacklisted by local policy”. This is occurring because emails are still being sent via BT. When using relay.plus.net, the connection is proxied through BT, and some recipient servers have blacklisted their IP addresses, which results in this error. Once the migration of all accounts is completed, the service will be fully routed through us and this should no longer occur.'

I passed this information to Plusnet who suggested I contact Greenby to resolve it!

It appears therefore that migration is not entirely complete, but whether to the spam and other issues will eventually disappear remains to be seen.
