I appreciate Plusnet can do nothing about this, and I don't expect them to - I just need to vent.
For reasons I don't intend to elaborate on, I turned the PN spam filter off many years back, so I expect to get some spam. This is not a problem - I use MailWasher as a filter but it appears Google, having introduced non-standard requirements for mail being sent to their servers, are perfectly happy to allow their users to use the service (via GoogleGroups) to spam others, and have a laborious and convoluted 'reporting' route for such abuse.
'Double standards' springs to mind.

Totally unrelated to Google, but Mailwasher related. I am using 6.5.4 and have done for years. I looked into upgrading, but it seems it is now subscription only. Was wondering if you had the old standalone version or a newer one?

@Marksfish I have 6.5.4, the later versions do not work on Linux, and in any case, I have a 'lifetime' licence for it. Also, I didn't particularly like the later versions.

I don't have a VM, although I do have a W7 machine - which is very rarely connected to the net - it is only used for one specific purpose that rarely needs it 'online'.

Is 7.15.45 standalone please? I only saw the subscription service on the website.
Thanks

@Marksfish My version 7.15.45 is/was paid for.
A free version of 7.15.45 is available if you search for "mailwasher pro free"
Not sure about standalone but it is currently an application running in windows, there may have been a Linux version but I' d guess @jab1 may be running an emulation program. Awaiting correction............

@Champnet Version 6.5.4 is the latest that will function on Linux-based systems (confirmed by FireTrust themselves), as v7 is built on a completely different platform, details of which I didn't request, as I had no interest.
MW has to be installed and run under WINE.

Sorry, I may not have been clear. I paid for my version of MW Pro and happily upgraded all the way to my current version, but didn't subscribe to the spam filtering. I was under the impression the newer versions of Mailwasher have to be subscribed to every year, or the programme stops working full stop (a bit like Microsoft 365).If it happily carries on after the first year, I would upgrade, but don't want to pay every year.
I'm aware I have taken the thread off topic. Apologies.

Which version are you running @Marksfish ? I bought a lifetime licence for MW back in the dark ages - probably around v4 - and that has remained current for all up to 6.5.4 - the next release was the first of the v7, which is when the license became an annual one - for the Pro version.

Up in my first post to you 😁 It is 6.5.4. Had years and it is a workhorse, just fancy something a bit updated, but not if it means an annual subscription to use it.

If it does the job, why change it?

Change for changes sake I suppose. It has worked faithfully for many years and I have always found Firetrust support to be spot on whenever I have needed it (to recover my licence key several times). If it ain't broke, don't fix it I suppose 😊
