Email phishing from zero to deluge

From looking at the screenshot, @irritablegit , all those spam emails originate from a single GoogleGroups account. They may appear to be from different sources, but they are all from that single source.

As I am sure I have posted previously, Google intentionally block legitimate mail to Gmail accounts, but are quite happy to be used to distribute spam.

@pvmb   Correct - I'm still on Plusnet email BUT Plusnet have handed over control to Greenby

I've just not yet been migrated to Greenby

Such obvious spam should be stopped by the ISP or whoever is in control of the email

How?

Besides that, although I do not know, I hope and expect that behind the scenes the various organisations involved are talking to each other wrt sending emails from Plusnet IPs to various domains who are currently blocking them. This, of course, is likely to itself have been instigated due to incoming spam mails that originated from Plusnet IPs - whoever is or was the original sender.

@pvmb  It's normal for email service providers to remove obvious spam.

That's part of their job - and Plusnet had been doing it for the 20+ years I've been with them

...OR, there hasn't been such a serious spam issue for the last 20 years? We don't really know, do we?

It might be that the transfer of email from Plusnet to Greenby is behind the increase in spam - I don't know. Do you know of any mechanism involved in the transfer that would likely cause this?

Then perhaps you haven't noticed that other in the community have highlighted the fact that the Plusnet spam control settings no longer have any effect.

I've mentioned it too.  They used to work - but no longer

Not only has the Plusnet service gone downhill, but as of today's bill they think it's reassonable to charge me an extra £3 per month for that worse service !!

Roll on the day that my contract expires ...

I've been getting regular warnings my Norton subscription will soon expire. That was free with Plusnet but not with Greenby, it seems. As you say, more money, less service.

You can avoid the very high renewal by simply buying it again ...
