Email mailbox size issues

help

after having the mailbox archived a couple of weeks - was recovered and have reduced it to about 700mb

have received an email telling me it is now at 5.5gb!

can someone check this please?

Can you please clarify where that figure comes from.  That is way over the FUP allocation (5.5x) so its is odd that you could have exceeded that so much without draconian action having been taken.

Have you checked that you email application has subscribed to all IMAP folders?  If the mailbox has been accessed by different (some times less that tidy) IMAP folders there could be a more than one SENT ITEMS folder on the server.  Take a look using webmail's folder management options.

That lot above totals a deal more than "less than 700mB" (863.5mB).  It would also be worth while using webmail to compact the server folders ... they could be bloated and might contribute to the 5.5GB report (that is guess work!!).

I have deleted the "bin" so now is below 800mb.

I have pasted in the bit from the email we received.

In order to assist you with taking action, here is a list of your largest mailboxes -

default 5432.272 MB
Total 5447.42 MB

Previously we were told we were just over 1gb

checked webmail - can't see anything there - this is the latest

Is there more than one mailbox on the account? Look at manage my email in the user portal.

No, just the one - its for my 80 yr old aunt

In which case, I suggest you look at it with Webmail and check all of the folders. Look for ones NOT subscribed to.
