Re: Upload folder full when trying to attach images to posts

Moderators: am I a member of any different group to the people who are having difficulties?

Re: Upload folder full when trying to attach images to posts

It's not group related as far as I can tell, I uploaded a 25KB file which was fine, then a 2MB file which failed. It's been reported internally for investigation.

Re: Upload folder full when trying to attach images to posts

From memory I am in the normal group as Legend doesn't have any permissions
I also get when trying to upload a 156kB image
The upload folder is full. Please try a smaller file and/or contact an administrator.

Re: Upload folder full when trying to attach images to posts

Chris, if there's some sort of SMF quota it probably won't apply to people who have admin rights.

Re: Upload folder full when trying to attach images to posts

I've just checked the settings and the uploads/attachments don't differ for any permission groups.

Re: Upload folder full when trying to attach images to posts

But this isn't the only problem with the forum, and the other current issues are just being ignored, and it's all clearly related.
See http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,144467.0.html
Attempted attachment 55kB and it failed.
Another of 11kB ...........
Edit: well that worked, tried the 55kB one again and it failed (upload folder full message).

Re: Upload folder full when trying to attach images to posts

Same trouble here when uploading files to a thread. Can't understand why. Bemused me completely until I mentioned it in a thread and was pointed here.

Chances are /tmp on whatever ancient debian webserver powers the forums is full and nobody knows how to clear it.

Re: Upload folder full when trying to attach images to posts

Without wishing to open a can of worms (and now probably thinking there is another thread i'll get pointed to!)....it seems there are some issues behind the scenes going on here but nobody's talking about them, well...at least not PN staff.
Not criticising at all, just observing. But from the outside (well, i was until i couldn't upload files) it doesn't look good.

Re: Upload folder full when trying to attach images to posts

The relevant bits being
Quote
Attachments Directory - Select where you want the files uploaded to be stored on your server. This can be located outside your public html directory for additional security.
Max attachment folder space - Specify how large in capacity the upload area can store. This is useful for servers with limited web space.

I hope they don't start deleting any of the current content in such a folder  Crazy   There are many posts where the content and attachments are useful & relevant to other Plusnet customers, posters and readers of the forum  Shocked
Edit: actually this may be relevant if someone has gone and altered any values
Quote
Max size per attachment - Specify how big a single attachment upload by a member can be.

as I managed to upload a small attachment, see a post above (reply #6).

I've already checked that and it's still set at 4MB. Good suggestion though.
