I'm having the same problem with unread posts on the EE forum this morning.

Hi @bobpullen

That is a very helpful observation, as it points to a generic product issue, not one which can be ascribed as being related to @jaread83 's deep customisation of the Plusnet version of the service.

I have suggested on several occasions that this is a multi-instance service which has parts of it out of sync.  The architecture has never been confirmed nor denied, but various behaviours do suggest that there are inconsistent perceptions of a user's post and notification status ... just as though a network or data caching fault is inhibiting consistent synchronisation across all service instances.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

I'm not saying this is resolved, but I haven't seen the initially reported problem for the last four or five days - maybe Khorus have found and utilised the correct change logs?
