Re: Peak time latency spikes

Anybody connected to pcl-ag07 or pcl-ag08 and seeing any problems that started around 7pm tonight, can you stay on that gateway and see if everything is OK?

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Hi DaveyH,
Could you stay connected to that gateway while we look at your line, would it be possible for you to pop onto IRC so we could discuss in real-time and not miss anything? Me and Dave are on there.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Was anything being tried in background from 9.30pm till 9.50pm?  I am and was in Lotro, from 9.30pm onwards to 9.50pm I couldn't move in game or logout.  Ping trace/wireshark/speedtests all normal for this time of night.
edit forgot on  ptw-ag02

Re: Peak time latency spikes

@chrispurvey fine at the moment, I was checking as there was a game patch today which might be the problem or the cherry on top of it, as I am now seeing reports of other Lotro servers having problems.
Side note, tried to type this earlier but the reply button for this thread timed out, but this thread is png heavy so expect it to a point.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Did something happen around 09:30 this morning ?
I started browsing about midday, and every website I visited was like treacle.  My first thought was that I must have exceeded my allowance (which is very likely to happen today), but I checked VMBU and I still have 200MB to go.  Next I did a speedtest which showed >95% of profile BUT also showed my ping had gone from 19ms to 29ms.  Had a look at the TBB graph and sure enough there had been a step in latency -

Checking my router log, there had not been a resync, or even a session drop.
Router synced at full speed, no errors, and normal line stats.
Using the gateway checker I was still on the same gateway that I was on yesterday - but with a 10ms extra latency.
I also checked to see whether the connection had become interleaved, but no it was still on fastpath.
I then tried five different gateway hops, and they are all showing the increased latency (+/- 1ms)
Anyone got any idea what happened at 09:30 ?  Undecided

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Whether this could have made any difference, I don't know, but it wasn't scheduled for 0930, so perhaps Kelly, Bob or Dave may know.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Yep, terrible speeds for me too in Bromley, Kent (or SE London)
(I'm on Mac and don't have (or want) Java so the ping test skipped a test)

Websites are slow, but streaming Youtube is impossible. Haven't tried PS3 online but no point considering the test results above. Problem started this morning, though to be honest I've found the Plusnet connection to be erratic on random occasions the last six months, connection dropping or slow speeds. It's not regular enough for me to complain about, but today I decided to roam the forums and found this thread, so here I am chipping in.
I'm using the standard Netgear router that came with the package, wireless, though it's right beside my Mac as I type.
