So, what are the differences in settings between wireless and wired?
DCHP or fixed addresses?
Are the DNS settings the same?
What is the TV "failing" to connect to - web site/media server/iplayer?

A somewhat random question, as I don't know the TV. Does the TV turn off wireless automatically if a cable is connected, do you have to select from the two or do you enable/disable independently? Put another way, make sure only one interface is active at any time as otherwise anything can happen

The Samsung Smart TV service is down at the moment, which is why you can't connect. I (and many others, just search Google) cannot connect either.

This happened to me yesterday with same tv. Had been connecting since start of year ok, but then upgrade from Essential to Unlimited Fibre yesterday and would not connect. Just hung there for ages saying "connecting". Had to reset many times but eventually did pull through the connection. But is not working this morning again.
Not sure if there was something going on with DNS settings yesterday, or whether upgrading changed something. Most odd. The only way I could connect was using the wps button on the Thomson router. That connected me, but as soon as tried again, it failed to access content.
