Technical log

Hello

Does anyone know why entries would be missing from a technical log? 

A quick internet search suggests it's not possible to delete entries from a technical log but on the day in question there are no entries listed between 04.01 and 23.55. There definitely should be entries on that day, and they could possibly be incriminating (against someone who is stalking me) so I need to get to the bottom of this.

@stalked26 It would possibly help if you could post the exported log - the full one, not just the day in question.

The event log size is limited, so some historical entries are deleted, examples from this event log where the limit has been applied.

I understand the limit is set to number of entries in the category rather than date/time,  I doubt they are recoverable

There's almost nothing in the log each day until 17th July

Just the NTP time sync and the CWMP transaction (router phoning home) with the occasional Dos port scan.

Then on 17th Jul there's this

and all of a sudden it starts logging LAN events

I dont know what exactly those log events mean...

@stalked26 I can see nothing there to cause concern, and I'm  fairly certain @Dan_the_Van  and @MisterW , who both have knowledge in this field than myself,would agree.

@jab1 Thank you. The police suspect my ex is tapping into my cameras as he knows things he could only know by being in my home and there is a history of stalking. I was just alarmed to see that the data for that particular day appears to be missing. They're certain he was watching me that day, we're just lacking the evidence.

@stalked26 If you are concerned that your ex is tapping in to your home connection, then the best way to prevent that is to change the wireless password and/or (potentially) the SSID.

I am surprised the police haven't given you that basic advice.

Just a note, if the cameras are wireless connected to your router, then they will drop their connection with any change to the wireless name and/or password.

@jab1 Yes, I've changed the password a number of times now. Unfortunately, the children have devices that the court insist are shared between the properties (despite knowing the history) so I'm fighting a loosing battle. I'd happily go back to the good old analogue days.

Understood, @stalked26 . This is not something I have a great deal of knowledge about, but it appears, from what you say, that the courts are being, shall we say, a little unreasonable about.

If the devices in question are wireless, then the obvious thing to do is use the connection at each property, rather than 'sharing' them.

I obviously don't know the ins and outs of your situation, and don't want to, but there appears to be a distinct lack of understanding somewhere.
