I've been with Plusnet over a month now and I guess my connection speed has stabilised.
Using the BT Speedtester I get the following result:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 4058 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :6176 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 5000 Kbps
I am actually happy with download speed achieved but my problem is the upload speed. Whenever I do a speed test, e.g. speedtest.net or broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk the upload speed is shown as 0.05Mbps or 57Kbps or something of that level. Is that normal? It feels very slow and causes problems when video calling, for example, plus uploading pics/vids is a bit ... painful.
Is there anything I can do to improve that?
Thanks,
Steve

The upstream sync speed (448kbps) is correct but the measured speed should be 350-380kbps, so your result is very poor.
What stats does your router give? Copy/paste data from this page if you have a Thomson TG585 supplied by Plusnet.

Plusnet's own speedtester is at http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk/. Downstream speed is low for me at the moment, but upload is around 350kbps.
Getting 0.00 kB for Data Sent is normal on this router, nothing to worry about.

Quote from: Joanne HI all,
The updated firmware is now on the community library (585v8 version 8.2.7.8 firmware/ updated wi-fi drivers) I'd be interested to hear if this solves any Windows OS issues as we know it was successful for mac, so please let me know. There is currently no facility to download this on mac OS but Bob has left a suggestion in a comment at the bottom of that page. Alternatively if you have a Windows OS device you could use that to do it.
Jojo
ps we will still upgrade mac users remotely if requested

The firmware upgrade has fixed an issue with slow upload but it wasn't as slow as yours. It still probably the first thing worth trying though. If you don't have a windows machine you can use to upgrade then let me know and I can get it upgraded remotely for you.

Yes, the release is 8.2.7.8. Upload speed is right now 107Kbps which is double what I was getting previously. I hope it remains at least at that level. What is a realistic speed I should expect?
Thanks,
Steve
