Re: Routerstats Lite/Full

@Anotherone
Ah, I've no problem with the stability/connection/speed at the moment. I was simply curious as to jem16's plight as it echoed my own experience: (migration Sky>PlusNet) Stable, fast and a connection for weeks/months (with Sky)... and then post migration..
- Wild SNR charts + drops
- Loss of (approx.) 20% of sync
All which has been solved now by changing PlusNet router to Netgear, so like you say may have been a faulty router but there was no way to check for sure as a replacement (identical) was never offered.

The most obvious thing to try for your connection is to get interleaving turned on and see how/if that improves things, as it should stabilise things.

Perhaps PlusNet support will pick up on this thread.

I've placed that order now, it's due to complete tomorrow.

I sure some one from CRT can pick this up and get Interleaving turned on for you.

Thanks to both you and Chris.

Whilst it's possible that it could be the modem/router, the pattern doesn't seem to match that, and some further tests would be needed once Interleaving is on to try and establish that possibility.

Other than changing the router is there anything else that could be done?
Todays stats and graphs attached.
Router just resynced randomly there. Seemed to be quite happy with an SNRM of 11.

Re: Routerstats Lite/Full

Interleaving seems to have been turned on during the night as I had FEC errors.
Unfortunately when I got home it was during a drop and SNRM was down to 1.5db. Of course I couldn't access the internet at this point as web pages never load. Followed Anotherone's instructions and disconnected for 10 minutes and then rebooted. SNRM now at 6.3db so can't tell if the "interference" is still present or not. I'll try the radio in a moment.

Re: Routerstats Lite/Full

If you encounter the can't access the Internet in the future, try and login to the modem/router and at least get a copy of the full DSL stats before Disconnecting and powering down.
I'd guess that the interference wasn't there when you resynced or at least not as severe - we'll know more as time goes on and what the SNRM plot looks like.
Interleaving is now on as you have a FEC error count.

Yes that was my mistake. I had logged in and selected the stats - thought I'd pressed copy but there was nothing to paste when I tried to.

Yes I'll see if it goes back up soon. However if it had disappeared during those 10 minutes that would be another coincidence as in noise went away on modem reboot.

I am bearing that possibility in mind  Wink
Do you have any stats/graphs from during the night out of curiosity?

No I had stopped monitoring overnight as it was always rock solid during the night.

Not to worry, was just idly curious to see how things changed when Interleaving got turned on.

From memory, FEC errors obviously now appeared and HEC errors had dropped.

No sign of snrm going back up which it probably would have done by now going by previous times.

Re: Routerstats Lite/Full

Hmm, SNRM obviously went back up just before you rebooted.
Note the downward spikes on the Tx Margin. Have you been using the phone at those times?
But those FEC errors are a little silly, so something isn't quite right somewhere.
You pay line rental to Plusnet I assume ?

The time that the SNRM went up exactly coincides with when I disconnected.

They coincide with incoming calls. The call goes on for longer than the spike so it seems to just be the actual ringing.

Yes line rental moved over from Sky to PlusNet at the same time.
