I got rid of the only IP Camera software on my PC and access the cams directly via my browser as suggested. I am confused, any suggestions?

Click the windows globe bottom left>
In the run box type: cmd [enter]
In the black window which pops up type:
ipconfig /displaydns [enter]
Scroll through the results for "gotocamera.com"
If you can't find "gotocamera.com" then the problem is likely to be with another PC or device.
Do you have any IPcamera apps on a phone etc ?

So it might be worth checking the settings within the cameras themselves, or possibly seeing if there is updated firmware available.

ejs, I have the latest firmware for my Wanscam Cams, but if there is integration within the cams it looks like I'll have to get shot of both and substitute with another. I've switched both off and will see if that kills the problem.
Thank you both for your replies, appreciated.

There's no need to go that far, if the problem is from the camera there's a number of ways you can deal with it.
From what you said before you don't need the camera to have dns access so a few options are:
1) in the cameras settings place it on a static LAN IP address and specify the DNS address as 127.0.0.1 or 0.0.0.0
2) in the routers firewall settings block the camera (on a static IP) from sending to port 53 on the WAN.
3)change the dns settings in the router to google dns -- they will be more resilient and less fussy.

Thank you npr, so there's hope yet that I might not shut down the Plusnet servers. As I said in an earlier post, I got shot of the static IP addie, so does that mean I'll have to request another?

npr is saying give your camera a static LAN IP address so that you can set rules relating to it on the router (you may already have it set as that - setting something like always use the same IP).

Step 3 shows where you can change the cameras dns settings:
If you don't need web access for the camera change the dns setting to 127.0.0.1
Alternatively if you do need web access change the dns setting to 8.8.8.8 (google dns)
You may need to specify "Network" as "Fixed IP" before it will allow you to change the dns setting, if so then I suggest the following for use with the plusnet router.
Network: Fixed IP
IP: 192.168.1.10 ( for the second camera: 192.168.1.11)
Sub Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.254
Primary DNS: 127.0.0.1
Note:
To access the camera from a web browser use:
192.168.1.10 for the 1st camera
192.168.1.11 for the second.

Unfortunately the settings box will not allow me to change the existing settings, I'm unable to locate any setting where it will allow me to specify "Network" as "Fixed IP, sorry if I'm being a bit dumb.

Quote from: tarren my router is a Billion BIPAC 7300N if that makes a difference.
Yes, you may need to use a different IP and gateway address to those I posted.
