Why are these people whining about a "CPU bug"?
This is just a fault in the way the kernel can be implemented.
It's not fixable by changing the chip or its firmware.

Edit: After applying that then re-checking with the tool above it says I'm still Vulnerable. Hmmm etc...

I have the 'MELTDOWN' update above come in on my desktop pc, but I've had to apply the above patch update manually to my laptop pc.

I have that patch too just got it, and my system still shows vulnerable.

Don't expect a patch for spectre. It's a hardware flaw. To properly fix it, it's a new CPU.

@St3 I was under the assumption that you had followed the link from the tool to update the intel management engine....
follow the links at the bottom of the page to your MB or Manufacturer and update the management engine to the latest version.
