Re: Hope this dont slow down my i7 :(

Why are these people whining about a "CPU bug"?

This is just a fault in the way the kernel can be implemented.

It's not fixable by changing the chip or its firmware.

Edit: After applying that then  re-checking with the tool above it says I'm still Vulnerable. Hmmm etc...

Re: Hope this dont slow down my i7 :(

I asked this earlier, but got no reply - anyone know? " I know there's no detail about this threat, but I wonder how close to your machine an attacker  will have to get, or how they would?"

Re: Hope this dont slow down my i7 :(

Meltdown is local access (run some malware), spectre is theoretical remote.

Don't expect a patch for spectre. It's a hardware flaw. To properly fix it, it's a new CPU.

Re: Hope this dont slow down my i7 :(

@St3 I was under the assumption that you had followed the link from the tool to update the intel management engine....

follow the links at the bottom of the page to your MB or Manufacturer and update the management engine to the latest version.

Linky to info.... https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000025619/software.html
