Hello,
I would like to introduce a new regular blog. It is about things we’ve found online which we think may make your life a little bit easier or just put a smile on your face. We are interested to hear about your experiences of using these apps and services. This makes for good chat, will help us better understand what you find useful on the web, and therefore design better products and services in the future. More…
It’s been a while since we last blogged about an increase in central capacity on our Up to 8Mbps 20CN network, I think the last time was way back in November of last year.
Since then we’ve revamped our products, have officially launched ‘Up to 20Mbps’ and been busy in the background moving customers across to BT Wholesale’s 21CN network. Because of this, we’ve focussed more on making sure we’ve enough bandwidth to cope with the increased numbers on the 21CN platform. It’s for this reason that you might have seen one of the many announcements recently about us increasing the capacity on our 21CN host links.
Well, if you haven’t got ADSL2+ in your area (you can check here), then you needn’t worry as we’ve not forgotten about you – oh no siree! More…
“I’m Checking In”
FourSquare is a mobile application that is getting a lot of buzz at the moment. The basic premise of the service is to use the application to ‘check in’ when you are at restaurants / pubs / shops etc and share this information with your friends Facebook / Twitter. The application is clever as it looks up where you are using the technology in your Smartphone (GPS / Wi-Fi triangulation) and will give you a list of nearby locations to choose from. Once you have ‘checked in’ to a location you can see who else has visited there recently and be pushed location specific offers. More…

It’s been long tiring five days lots of work done (the fruits of which i hope you’ll see next week) and I’m absolutely shattered. Don’t worry, it won’t stop me completing the final task before the weekend! Here’s another brief peek into the internal goings on here at Plusnet Towers. More…

Just a few days ago we heard of the demise of the Tiscali brand, after TalkTalk finally killed it off. Trouble is, there are still plenty of people stuck on Tiscali packages and TalkTalk is increasing the prices of their packages by £5 a month if they don’t take a TalkTalk phone line. More…

Phone lines to Plusnet’s sales team suddenly got busier this afternoon when Martin Lewis made an appearance on BBC Radio 2’s Jeremy Vine show. The ‘Money Saving Expert’ explained how, if you’re paying £10 a month for your broadband with another provider, you could save over £50 a year by moving to Plusnet.
Here at Plusnet we're always trying to use clever open source things to make our lives easier. Sometimes we write our own and make other people's lives easier too!
