Speed issues when downloading Apple updates

I'm also having problems - software/app updates taking for ages + magazine taking for ever to download - e.g. several hours when they used to take 1-2 minutes.

Is this a plus net issue or a apple server issue?

I believe this is a Plusnet issue. I have noticed the following:
- podcasts are unaffected and download at a rapid speed (i'm on the 76MB service and get 60MB download speeds)
- it does affect app updates and downloads (40mb apps take take over 10 mins to download, some apps have reported hours)
- if I connect to the VPN at work, apps download rapidly. When I disconnect then download speeds are very slow to non-existent
If I didn't know any better, it seems someone has tweaked the traffic management rules and Plusnet are throttling any connection to an Apple server that provides App downloads. This had been going on for at least 2 weeks and I'm getting sick of it.

Plusnet have changed the traffic management rules for a few services including Steam, GOG etc It wouldn't surprise me if they included Apple in that as well.

Yep, OS and phone updates from Apple today, download speeds diabolical.
Next door neighbour (not on Plusnet) - as fast as ever...
Surely this must have been fixed by now!

Couldn't do the iTunes update but the iPhone update came down normally!

And so did the update for my iPad.
Still cant get the iTunes update though!  

Should add that the iPhone/iPad updates were done direct via wifi (not 3/4G), and not via iTunes.

Confirm the same issue here.
Internet at 38Mbs, but painfully painfully slow app updates on the iPad.

Had the same problem here, last night and this morning. Hopped gateway and speed back to full.

Whatever is slowing some users' downloads it is by no means universal. I updated 2 iPhones this morning to iOS 9.1 (the messages claimed roughly 180M each) with no trouble and no delay. I didn't time the downloads but my impression was seconds rather than minutes......

I updated an iPad and an iPhone this morning to iOS 9.1 each of which took over 30 min to download. However updating my Mac to OS X 10.11.1 (a 1.35GB download) this morning completed in only a couple of minutes. Not sure why there would be such a difference in download speeds from Apple. All iOS App downloads are also very slow. I normally get download speeds of over 70Mbs on my Fibre connection (both wired and wireless) and have no problem with downloads from elsewhere.

OSX Update is downloading painfully slowly for me as well.
Would some PlusNet tech-savy person look into this, please?

Still getting "apple.com not responding" when I try to update iTunes!
