Re: Upstream Speeds ***** Important *****

Wrong! You go through http://trials.plus.net - nothing in there says you must visit the 21CN forum on Community to keep up to date with what's going on!

Re: Upstream Speeds ***** Important *****

There was initially.
The first 50-75 came from the forum thread asking for volunteers.

Thank you for choosing to take part in our 21CN trial,
we'll place your order in the next month and expect the
order to take about 1 -2 weeks to complete.
In order to better manage the trial the orders are being
placed on a staggered basis so that we can monitor
them through the whole process in small batches.
We will keep you updated via this ticket should there be
any problems and also let you know once it has
completed.
You may find the following links useful, the first is a link
to our 21CN trial forum where customers can share
experiences about the trial or ask questions:
http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/board,62.0.ht
ml
The second is list of any planned maintenance work that
is upcoming on the 21CN network:

Dave Tomlinson

Re: Upstream Speeds ***** Important *****

Sorry, I must be going blind in my dotage. I was already aware that users were given pointers to the forums if they wanted to share their experience, but where in there does it say you MUST visit the forum to keep up to date with the trial?
Edit: There's nothing about the incorrect provisioning on http://community.plus.net/21cn-maintenance/ which the ticket response suggests is the other place people should look.

Re: Upstream Speeds ***** Important *****

Seem to have been reprovisioned, and upload speed faster now.  Current stats....
Uptime: 1 day, 11:10:47
Modulation: G.992.5 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:                   888 / 7.634
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 8,05 / 16,84
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]:                 12,5 / 0,0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]:                 23,5 / 41,5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]:                         11,5 / 3,5
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / IFTN
For interest , whats the default target SNR for upload?? and am I right that SNR for download on ADSL2+ is meant to go lower than 6dB

Re: Upstream Speeds ***** Important *****

It did for the first few weeks when it worked for me.
Even now, I could force it down to around 3dB with DMT and it would be stable (within 1dB), if your internal wiring is in good nick.

Re: Upstream Speeds

We're still seeing people posting who's upload speed has been capped - shouldn't Plusnet be doing something more proactive than relying on picking up from these forums that they need to PM James?

Re: Upstream Speeds

Has everybody that was provisioned at the wrong speed now had their cap removed or is it still reliant on them seeing this topic and sending James a PM?

Re: Upstream Speeds

We've seen a few occasions where removing the cap has caused connectivity issues, so I'm more comfortable with being contacted with a request than removing it for all that had a cap placed.
Also, there's a likelihood that those with capped upstream will see slightly faster downstream speeds than those who are not.
