I'm not too sure on how much interleaving affects this? is it alot and does turning it off cause more problems?
Also this is what my Thompson router is reporting
Uptime is low due to the connection just reset itself not long ago for some reason. Also line attenuation seems to be a bit high or is that normal?
Uptime: 0 days, 0:20:21
DSL Type: G.992.1 annex A
Channel mode: Interleave
Maximum Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 812 / 3,648
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 3,616
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/MB]: 0.00 / 367.01
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 19.0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 31.5 / 56.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 17.0 / 9.5
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / TSTC
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 3 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 196,664 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 51 / 455,988
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 39 / 2,572
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 31,527
Is there a problem with this connection? or do things seem normal and will interleaving being turned off help my pings/disconnects with out causing too much extra problems? Or will buying a new router ie linksys etc help more?
Thanks

TBH the only way to see if a new router would help is to try one out. Let me know if getting your hands on a spare one is an issue though.
Can you post some examples of what pings to some of the gaming servers you usually use are like? also results of a traceroute would be good too.
With regards to the interleaving this differs from line to line, orders to apply or remove interleaving take one working day to complete so you could let us try removing this with a view to turning it back on if things get worse for you.

Those are just some Battlefield Bad Company 2 servers I quickly did some TraceRT's too.
But I have a game that's recently out Warhammer Space Marine and that uses a type of P2P hosting and 95% of games are unplayable for me I get a lot of "waiting for host" messages.
Curious as to what interleaving would do to my connect if I got it turned off?

My ping is like 17-25 on other games but when i play FIFA its unplayable ive been having murder with PN over this as it very unfair to class it under P2P then Gaming.
Even thought of leaving on many occasions due to this but i actually like PN and their support team so i stay.
Come on PN get peer to peer games under gaming not p2p
The pings for other games other than P2P are brilliant , superb better than other isps my mates are on in the same street its just P2P that lets them down

That looks like an issue with your router if a local device is giving 99ms RTT.
By comparison I get:
1 <1 ms 1 ms <1 ms int-gateway.abc.co.uk [10.0.1.1] <---LAN Device
2 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms ext-gateway.abc.co.uk [10.0.21.1] <--- LAN Device
3 24 ms 23 ms 26 ms lo0-plusnet.pcl-ag06.plus.net [195.166.130.41]
4 23 ms 23 ms 23 ms gi7-6-753.pcl-gw01.plus.net [84.93.254.89]
5 24 ms 24 ms 24 ms po4.pcl-gw02.plus.net [212.159.1.129]
6 23 ms 24 ms 23 ms po5.thn-gw02.plus.net [212.159.1.133]
7 24 ms 23 ms 24 ms linx.killercreation.co.uk [195.66.225.123]
8 24 ms 24 ms 24 ms rt-2-cent.killercreation.co.uk [217.146.94.2]
9 24 ms 24 ms 23 ms server.killercreation.co.uk [81.19.208.31]
If your connected via wireless I'd expect a ping still sub 10ms depending how busy it is. If you havent already get the router rebooted, failing that try another one or speak to Adam_Walker.

@OP with your 30ish out of game ping if you have interleaving turned on it will increase it by 40-50% then you add on the overhead for actually being in a game so another 10ms or so on top. I would suggest you leave it off unless your modem looses connection a lot, if its stable then its not broken so doesn't need it.
But if the modem is old I would suggestion looking at borrowing a router to test with, usb/pci modems hog your PCs cpu to a point and if you are gaming its the last thing you need when in a graphically intensive game like a FPS.

I'm tempted next month to go out and buy a new router that works with ADSL and use that, since I'd like a proper N router anyway.
Take it plusnet has no problems with this and it should be easy to set up the new router to dial plusnet ok?
