End Of Day: 17th December

End Of Day: 17th December

End Of Day: 17th December

Today I've mostly had a cold. This seems to be a theme in Plusnet. Keep away from S1 4BY, we've all got the lurgee.... Our first insight into the daily-doings of Plusnet comes from Davinia of the Sales Team

Hello everyone, Well today on sales it has been fairly quiet however we have been keeping ourselves busy as always, Laura and Magdi have been calling customers who have placed orders with us and are awaiting a Migration Code from there current providers, and I have been helping with the provisioning side and making sure customers orders are progressing and completing on time. It been a good month up to now, a lot of happy new customers who will have broadband up and running before Christmas. Well that's really it from me so if you don't hear from me before hope you all have a lovely Christmas and I'll be posting again no doubt in the New Year so speak to you all soon.

Chris next from the Comms team

Even less of us in today, with only myself and Bob in the office. James and Matt have both been off ill, although Matt was actually working from home and Mand had a day off. Needless to say with less than half the normal team in, it's been pretty hectic around here. Bob's been writing service status posts and continuing to chase updates on IronPort problems and questions. I've been blogging, forumming and wondering why looking at excel sheets sends me to sleep within 3 minutes. Other than that, there hasn't been much to report on the good ship comms. Hopefully we'll have a few more in tomorrow and will have something interesting to put in an end of day. Continuing the same theme: On the first day of Commsmas the Comms Team gave to me A big hot mug of tea. On the second day of Commsmas the Comms Team gave to Bob, two tins of spam. On the third day of Commsmas the Comms Team gave to Chris, three days off. On the fourth day of Commsmas the Comms Team gave to us, four “Comms is teh r0×0rz” mugs. On the fifth day of Commsmas the Comms Team gave to you, 5 Comms peeps. On the sixth day of Commsmas the Comms Team gave to you, the 6th line of this song.

Riiiight... Finally, we have good old Dunc from Networks

Most of us in Ops (that's me, Sarah, Matt, Michael and Russ) have been busy working on getting our problem numbers down prior to our change freeze which happens later in the week, once this comes into force we'll only be fixing high priority problems, single customer issues and any hardware issues that may come up. I've taken the opportunity to sort out some of the lower priority problems that have been building up. Mike says he's been working on IWF whilst nursing the Man Flu that's been going round the office. Rick's been on monitoring all day, fixing little niggling problems that can cause call outs if left. Josh has been planning upcoming data centre moves. Si has been working on the new Alpha environment for Development and the upcoming data centre moves. Carl has been planning Cable installs in data centres, working on ITW integration, load balancing our cache DNS in London and planning our upcoming data centre moves. Dave has been working on Ellacoya expansion and reporting, he's also been doing some work on the 21CN trial. Geoff has been working to iron out the last few problems we have on Ironport. Neil has been looking at the work that needs doing to decommission one of our older internal mail servers. Dan and Aaron have been working on customer tickets. Kev M has been working on Parbin workstreams all day.

All done for the day!
