How reliable is SSD ?
Anyone use it and if so have you found it reliable ? or come across any snags ?

I've had Samsung SSD's in my desktop for a couple of years now, and in my latest laptop.
Oh, and a replaced one from my desktop in a USB drive too.
Can't say that I've ever had a problem at all!!!

I have two SSDs in my desktop PC without any problems. A 60GB for Windows (7) and some program installations and another 100GB for temporary files and other programs.
Startup is fast but I like the fact that entering/waking from Sleep mode is lightening fast.

I've got a Crucial m4 - 128 gig SSD as my Windows 7 system drive in my desktop.
I use a normal 1 TB WD Caviar Black for the data storage.
Computer boots up / shuts down fast, never had any issues with the SSD.

A couple of points to remember:
Enable TRIM within Windows (I think 7 and above) and disable automatic Defraggmenting for the SSD as it won't make any difference but may help reduce the lifespan of the drive if enabled.

Edit: This site was recommended in this forum when I was asking about SSds almost two years ago.

Yup SSD excellent i have had my OCZ 120gig close to two years no probs at all

I install and use SSD(s) and have never encountered any issues with them, and neither of my clients
As above (Never Defragment a SSD) as it not only degrades the lifespan, however it can also VOID the Warranty with some manufacturers if the SSD has been defragmented)
SSD(s) were originally made to go into business servers as they are more robust the IDE / Sata drives

Just like to add - if you've an intel motherboard (or a motherboard with an intel chipset that's at least ICH9) you won't need to enable TRIM as the intel drivers sort all that out I believe - https://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Software+Products&ProductL...
Don't think that's only for raid (though I'm using it as such).

You probably want to change your BIOS HDD settings from SATA to AHCI for best results.

Have a look at the attached pic of my old Crucial C300 64GB SSD.
It's over 3 years old now ( used as an OS drive ) and still going strong.
According to SSDLife it's got longer left than my month old Samsung 840 pro
