The box remains empty; I cannot find the deleted item via Search so assume the box has been by-passed.
The by-pass facility in Recycle Box 'Properties' is unchecked.
Can I cure this fault?
Is my 6 year old computer breaking down?
Help and/or comments appreciated.
Tony.

Reduce the maximum size to 10% and see if that helps. If not follow the instructions here http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;136517

Thanks for your suggestions. Microsoft Support give a lot of information re: Recycle, but it dosn't seem relevant to XP. In any case, much of it is over my head!
I have in mind to upgrade my equipment this year; now maybe sooner than later.
Meanwhile, I'll have to be extra careful when I delete.

Alternatively, install a proper OS such as Ubuntu and get your Recycle bin included for free.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll settle for the first one; I should be able to cope with that!
Then I'll think about Ubuntu.
I appreciate the responses of other members.
