Powerline adapters not working with hub2

Hi there, just joined Plusnet from Sky!

All good so far, although my TP-Link Powerline adapters are not working (TL-WPA8631P KIT). The three lights flash initially on the main adapter (TL-PA8010) when switching on then when I plug in the ethernet cable to connect to the Hub 2 on the cable LED comes on. The middle Powerline LED doesn't come on though, I've paired the other adapters to the main one again but it's as if the main one isn't connecting to the hub, any ideas? The lights switch off after a short while too so no idea what is happening!

I bought another single main adapter off Amazon but it's just having the same symptoms, is there anything I need to configure in the hub settings?

Wasn't sure if it was anything to do with the speed as I have went from Sky 75 to Plusnet 145 speed and they can't handle it?

Thank you

Re: Powerline adapters not working with hub2

@willralst123 its nothing to do with the change in speed from 74 to 145.

There's nothing to configure in the Hub settings. A powerline system presents as a wired ethernet connection to the Hub.

Looking at the 8010 manual, if the ethernet LED is on then the connection to the Hub is good. The middle LED being off would seem to indicate that the 8010 is probably in 'power saving mode'

Re: Powerline adapters not working with hub2

@willralst123

There is very little interaction between the powerline adaptors and the Hub 2.

You just plug it in and they should "just work".

Personally I've never had a great deal of luck with them and would recommend Ethernet cables (best) or a mesh WiFi system (second best).

If you still have the Sky router you could see if they work with that (you won't get Internet connectivity but should see some sort of router management page)

Otherwise if you can factory reset them and start again.

I don't suppose they were plugged into different sockets when they worked as I believe they need to be on the same "fused" circuit.

@willralst123 You are using one of the three "live" ethernet sockets? Number 4 (usually labelled WAN) is not available for internal network use.

Re: Powerline adapters not working with hub2

@HPsauce that was one of my thoughts but since

as I have went from Sky 75 to Plusnet 145

it must be a FF connection and the WAN port must be in use for the ONT connection
