How good is it?
Variable and often less good than broadband using a phone line. Definitely less good than full fibre in my view
Can you watch TV iplayer ?
Streaming is generally possible (it depends on which network is best for reception and data throughput in your area as to how good it looks)
Would be grateful for any advice or observations before I sign up for it.
I would get a cheap sim on the network you propose using and put it in a spare phone or the WiFi unit you intend using and try it for a few days.
I suspect you will find it doesn't compare well to broadband using a filxed wire or fibre.
If you are very near a phone mast in an area of low population it can work extremely well, otherwise less so.

I've had both good and bad experiences with mobile broadband . Purely down to location.
Most recently I set up a temporary mobile broadband for my daughter in a 3rd floor flat in an urban city location.
On an unlimited data EE SIM she's been getting 100mbs reliability (speed limited by SIM) . Only one outage for a few hours over the last year.
