I find the new 2704n to be slightly better for me WiFi wise,

During the test were both routers configured to use the same 11n bandwidth?
I assume the 2704n can be set to either 20MHz or 40MHz 11n bandwidth.

Re: ISP PlusNet Launch Faster Hub Zero 2704n Broadband Router

Both routers are set as standard, I think the 582n does 130mbps while the 2704n does 144mbps so I guess it should be a little faster.
I did use the 2704n at 300mbps for a short period but it spattered the life out everything. Can you set the 582n to 144 via cli ? I assume I would need to step up to 300 no?
I'll test again if so. You can change to 300mbps easyer on the 2704n pic below

Re: ISP PlusNet Launch Faster Hub Zero 2704n Broadband Router

You go from 130 to 144 by enabling sgi via the cli, and leaving the channel width at 20 MHz only, you don't need to turn it up to 300.

Re: ISP PlusNet Launch Faster Hub Zero 2704n Broadband Router

Ok, I'm being very very generous with the tg582n Results now that it is running @144mbps, most of the tests on the tg582n gave me on average 35/40mbps while the 2704n average was 47/52.
So best effort results below. Conditions are not as good or quiet today hence the slower speeds.

Re: ISP PlusNet Launch Faster Hub Zero 2704n Broadband Router

and what are the risks in changing these wireless settings?
270 and 300 are mentioned as risky in that link, but what about 144?

Re: ISP PlusNet Launch Faster Hub Zero 2704n Broadband Router

So far we have been pretty happy with the New 27042n, Latency has dropped and the connection is smooth and stable.
I feel that Plusnet have listened in the main and addressed many of the problems the old router has.
:Easy DNS Changes
:Easy VPN Changes (via expert_user)
:Easy Access Control
:Easy Wifi Speed Changes 54/144/300
:Easy IP address Changes (via expert_user)
I could go on and on, but I won't.
However.... one thing that I have spotted is, when wifi is enabled my connection seems to spike with elevated Latency and Jitter. If you look at the graphs below you will see a 24 hour period of the wifi being enabled circled in red.
The problem has now subsided with the wifi disabled. I dont see it as a big problem, but I do run seperate AP's
Oh yes, the lack of firewall logs-are there any thoughts on the lack of logs and will this be put forward for future firmwares ?

I have a netgear.  Grin
It runs wireless + wired connections - but no voice (on fibre).
Approximately over the same period as you,
For RTP Jitter up,
For RTP Jitter down,
For (UDP) Latecy respectively,  I get

The spikes on your graph are over a normal evening period, mine graph shows a continous spike over a 24hr period.
Whats your point ?

@ 11110_110 - Do you get the same issue if you do say 1000 pings to bbc.co.uk via ethernet with Wifi enabled?

Re: ISP PlusNet Launch Faster Hub Zero 2704n Broadband Router

I've done 1000 pings with wifi enabled then disabled but I can't tell at this point in time, to much traffic atm. I'm more concerned wih the Jitter so I'll leave the 2704n WiFi running all night and see what gives tomorrow.
I'll do more tests when everything is quiet to compare pings with WiFi on then off on monday. I am being very picky here, but my own 2 AP's don't give me any raise in Jitter for a sustained period apart from evenings.

Has anyone managed to decrypt the backupsettings.conf file (the file you get when saving the config in the expert_user.html realm)?
