Changing wifi password

Yesterday I reset my router, a few things had gone haywire so it seemed the best option.

I wanted to restore the previous Wi-Fi network name and password, so as to avoid connection issues with devices already on those settings.

it let me change the network name, no trouble at all.

It absolutely refuses to change the password. I've tried at least 20 times now, it says 'you must save the settings' so I do...

It says 'settings changed'.  But as soon as I go back to advanced settings and then pop back into WiFi settings, it's not saved the blooming password!

Driving me a bit bonkers!

Thanks in advance for any help

Re: Changing wifi password

When you say “reset”do you mean “factory reset” using the pin hole button on the router or a manual restore of original settings?

Which router are you using?

What “issue” are you trying to fix by changing the password?

Re: Changing wifi password

* Manual restore to factory settings.

Say I want to call my WiFi Griffindor

I go to WiFi settings and change the Plusnet given name.

Then I want to change the network password to Quidd1tch!

It won't let me!

I can change the network name to Griffindor, but it will not allow me to change the password, despite several attempts.

The reason for wanting to change the password is simple.

I'm just putting the network name and password back to what they were before the restore, that way all my smart home devices, TVs etc, will connect automatically.

Otherwise I have to do each one manually, which will take ages!

Thank you

Re: Changing wifi password

@Nijntje274 I suspect your password doesnt meet the criteria, see the Help pages on the Hub

I think its...

To help make your password as secure as possible, please make sure that it:

● is at least 14 characters long, but no more than 63

● is a combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters and numbers

● is not a name or a dictionary word

● is not a commonly used password like 'admin', 'abc123', 'welcome1', etc

Re: Changing wifi password

Problem solved.

Managed to crank up an old PC and it let me change it there.

Funny it would on iPad.

Anyway, thanks for the ideas, all good now!

Re: Changing wifi password

@Nijntje274

It is likely when using a tablet or mobile phone the browser would set to use mobile site, the Hub GUI does not work correctly with this mode.

So changing the browser to use desktop site would work or using a desktop device would be the necessary action.

Setting aside the possibility of mobile vs 'desktop' UI behaviours, if your password used a special character (as in ! above) that does not appear to be permissible.  There are though other possibilities in the context of a "manual reset to the default configuration - from the HUB2 help page...

This is the password that other devices will need to use when connecting to the Plusnet Hub via wireless.

The default password is also on the settings card on the back of the Hub.

● is not the same as information given elsewhere on your Plusnet Hub (e.g. the default or current Hub's wireless key, serial number, MAC address or wireless network name)

That last constraint might be read as to infer that the pass key entered manually cannot be the DEFAULT pass key as shown on the back of the hub.  From that one might conclude that the only way to "restore" to the default WiFi password is to do a factory reset.
