a unhelpful pre sales answer!

Hi,
A rant really, get one of my clients to switch to plusnet from local cable company and he emailed to ask about iPhone mail and got the below replay from a Mr Mark [mremoved], ether Mark has not has his coffee today or some re training is in order!

Dear Mr xxxxx xxxxxxxxxxx
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately our email service is not compatible with the email programme on an iPhone. Our emails can only be accessed through either our website or Outlook Express.
Regards,
Mark [mremoved]

Re: a unhelpful pre sales answer!

Hi there,
Thanks very much for the heads up, I believe Jameseh has picked this up and flagged it internally for feedback.
For the record, our mail should work fine with the iPhone email client and also with clients other than Outlook Express (provided the details are correct of course).

I wrote a support guide on how to set up email on an iPhone a couple of years back:

Re: a unhelpful pre sales answer!

You can set up pretty much any pop3/imap email client to use Plusnet email.
While we can't cover them all, we have guides for some of the most popular here: http://www.plus.net/support/email/setup/

Alternatively and a better solution in my eyes is to use an Internet based email provider then when you change ISP you don't have to change your email settings.

Not an option for me and a lot of people, I need to keep my legacy e-mail services going, I have a home office and I need to connect to clients e-mail systems. I think (but don't know) that this is the OPs situation too.  Smiley
