Which is the more useful?

Am I the only one getting sick of having to repeatedly set up Autologon? Every time there's a rollout of a minor change to the portal it kills autologon - and that seems to be once a week. Makes a mockery of the period options of weeks, months and years!

Re: Which is the more useful?

Never had a problem myself unless I log on from another computer. Don't seem to work if you log on via different computers.

Re: Which is the more useful?

I had a problem with this yesterday but it was the first for many months. Normally OK for me.

Re: Which is the more useful?

Question for the people who are having little problem with it, what setting do you use?

Re: Which is the more useful?

Since replying initially I have checked again and am being requested to fill in my details.  Without filling in the details if I click login the details appear Undecided  There appears to be a problem.

Re: Which is the more useful?

If you are talking about the login details that is probably because they have been remembered by your browser.

Re: Which is the more useful?

I'd actually find something that you see on a lot of websites (e.g. ebay) more useful. A tick box on the login page for "Keep me signed in for today. Don't tick this box if you're at a public or shared computer."

Re: Which is the more useful?

That's what mine is set to but I think jelv is right and the settings are being remembered by Firefox.

Re: Which is the more useful?

I agree that the autologin fails every so often, but for me that hasn't been too bad recently. There was a time, years ago, when it annoyed me enough that I added a "Set Autologin" shortcut to my bookmarks.
However, a couple of weeks ago, I had to look at the Plusnet portal on IE8 (to check the non-appearance of the referral page) and when I returned to Firefox, I was prompted to login. I probably logged in on IE8, but didn't close IE8. So, even if the setting is stored in a Firefox cookie, it may also be overridden by activity elsewhere.
By the way, I always opt for hopelessly optimistic login period of 9 years.
One thing that does annoy me is the default option on the Set Autologin page is "Off". Surely more users want to login that not? Also why isn't there a default value setting, to reduce the amount of user interaction required to take this simple action?

Re: Which is the more useful?

It does appear the auto login only works on one browser at the time. If I switch browsers or computers and set auto log in or even just log in then when I switch back I have to reset auto log in.

Re: Which is the more useful?

AIUI that is the expected behaviour if you log in on alternative browsers or PCs.

Re: Which is the more useful?

But just because it is expected behaviour doesn't make it any good.
Sure - if I use another browser/PC I should expect to have to login. But I wouldn't expect that to reset the account such that auto logon doesn't work on my normal PC.
