Unhelpful comments from techies when reporting unacceptablly slow line speeds

OMG...there I was flushed with success from implementing all the good advice and help I have gleaned from my fellow forum-ers and Jamesh (bless him)  when an hour later the download speed crashed again - on 30Kbps ............tried rebooting router again........no improvement.  God, this is frustrating.  Can this really be down to a wireless connection? If I must connect via ethernet to solve this problem I will but I will loose broadband WiFi capability with my laptop that way. 
I have left another msg for Jamesh for some more advice............and they say this is easy!
