Re: Top Quality work

Goodness me that's worse than what I'd do (not exactly competent with a drill myself!!), hope they pay for the damages.... Shocked

Pretty shocking. At least they didn't drill through the window frame Smiley

Re: Top Quality work

Hi Nick, I want to raise this with our suppliers to try and get this sorted out as this is quite clearly not to the standard we'd expect.
Would you mind pming me the username of the account it relates to please.
In the meantime, if you want to try and report it directly due to damage to your property you can call Openreach directly on 0800 671130

Re: Top Quality work

Even from me, who has no building experience whatsoever, I can see it's bad that they just left a loose cable into the wall.

Re: Top Quality work

You'd have thought he'd sharpen his hammer before using it to make the hole for the cable.  I bet he used the hammer too for inserting the screws into the wallplugs (if he even used wallplugs).

Re: Top Quality work

Even worse is the fact that whoever did this probably holds some formal qualifications.
Glad you reported it, be interesting to see his other handywork.

Re: Top Quality work

Look on the bright side! At least they provided a rainwater drip loop on entry, I've often seen satellite installers who hadn't even done that. Sad
Who or what are "Kelly"?

Re: Top Quality work

Kelly's and Quinn's are the two subcontractor telecoms engineer firms Openreach took on when the demand for FTTC installations overwhelmed them quite a long time ago.
The horror stories are legion :(.

Just a word of warning; that Twitter feed usually directs you our way (though their response may be interesting). Harry's in at 11:30, so if you've sent him a PM, I'll give him a nudge.

Re: Top Quality work

These pictures are similar to some of the installations Virgin Media sub-contractors have been doing round my way and why I'm not entertaining them for anything, even though they send me a discount pack every month.
If you drill brick from the inside out and use the hammer option all the way through then that outer layer drop off is what happens.
Let's be careful out there !
