Re: Telephone support hours changing at Plusnet

Well, I'm in the same boat as you tonight. Got in late, by the time I'd done my chores outside and then had something to eat, it was gone midnight by the time I switched the computer on, so if I needed Support and it was July 14th ........... Roll_eyes

Re: Telephone support hours changing at Plusnet

It's gone very quiet from the Plusnet side about this!
The main website still prominently features the 24/7 support. How many have reported Plusnet to the ASA over this?

How can we report something that we haven't been told yet? Wink

Re: Telephone support hours changing at Plusnet

You can do it on the basis of the article http://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/7015-telephone-support-hours-changing-at-plusnet.html or the announcement posted here. The important concern for the ASA is that Plusnet are advertising a major aspect of the 12 or 18 month contracts they are offering is the 24/7 support when they know it will be withdrawn less than a month in to the contract. The ASA are not concerned about the affect on current customers, only the advertising as it is today, so there is no need to wait until we are individually formally notified (as they will have to do) before we report them to the ASA.

Re: Telephone support hours changing at Plusnet

PlusNet going quiet about something they don't want to answer and news being posted on ADSL Guide first. No change there then.
I wonder if this would apply?
After all taking out a contract not realising the support hours are being cut?

Re: Telephone support hours changing at Plusnet

I would have thought regardless of the intention to change something advertising 24/7 support until it isn't 24/7 any longer is not a crime it may be immoral but not illegal.

As I see it entering a contract today is no different to me entering a contract earlier in the year, as customers we are both affected equally by the change.
But then again interpreting legal jargon isn't my forte. Huh

Re: Telephone support hours changing at Plusnet

Offering a 12 month contract with 24/7 support when you know it will not be available in two weeks time is way, way beyond immoral!

Re: Telephone support hours changing at Plusnet

That's my point.
Obviously if I were someone who didn't know about this (as I only found out about it reading here) and the 24/7 advertising attracted me to choosing PlusNet rather than someone else, so I sign up for an 18 month contract.
Then after I found out after the support hours were being cut, I wonder if this could be challenged legally as false advertising,
