SLOOOOOW Speed - whats going on?

Since 3 days I have had really slow speeds ranging from 0.65 to 1.6Mb
I have ALWAYS has 5mb into the house - only time it slowed was when I was throttled under orange FUP
Now plusnet tell me are you doing the same?
I wont jump through hoops with X amount of speed tests and yes you can test the line and no fault will show!!
I have the speed test results ready - just send me an email address for me to forward them to you- I have called once and you said it "would be resolved in 24 hours" well 48 on and I'm still struggling.
get back to me with whats going on or I am off!! two weeks in!!
PS no phone extensions - brand new BT master - tried differnet filters and modem cables (I run on  belkin sheilded) yes tried wireless and ehternet, so its in your hands

Re: SLOOOOOW Speed - whats going on?

Right - BT speedtest
Download speedachieved during the test was - 4250 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :6144 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 5000 Kbps
Which seems fine! however EVERY other spped test is showing less than 1.6M and sometimes 0.7M - they speed the net is running I beleive the others!! ping times are well up too, from the usual 3- 50ms to over 130 and sometimes up to 350ms
So I'm lost!! you will come back telling me that BT speedtest is what you go off and thats it!! I can honestly tell you its slowed from the first switchon - it was like gresed shit off a hot shovel, it much slower now - I KNOW the like can easily reliably handle 5M it always has - and I used to get that speed off orange untill they capped me for FUP
Do you cap normal web usage? I know you throttle usenet to an inch of its life during the day

Re: SLOOOOOW Speed - whats going on?

The difference between the BT speedtest and the others is that the BT Test is categorised as Titanium - effectively completely unthrottled - whereas normal speed tests are AFAIK in gold. This puts the problem squarely in Plusnet's court which was why I suggested carrying it out

Re: SLOOOOOW Speed - whats going on?

Hi welshman,
I suspect Friday's network issues (http://usertools.plus.net/status/archive) are to blame for the slow speeds you've experienced there. Everything's sorted now though and the network is being rebalanced so things will be improving, however it'll take a bit of time for everything to sort itself out.

Re: SLOOOOOW Speed - whats going on?

Why dpes Bt speedtester show all is hunky dory !! see blow when ALL other speedtest sites show 0.7M ?? and ping times up over 135ms -- is there a proble or not, as there seems to be from my end.
I am confused as to the speedtester (BT) result, sureley it is inaccurate?

Re: SLOOOOOW Speed - whats going on?

How's your connection been today? Are you still getting the same low speeds on speedtests other than the BT one?

Re: SLOOOOOW Speed - whats going on?

Not as much as you've been seeing. We should be nearly back in balance across gateways now too so I wouldn't think that would be causing the fluctuation you're getting, can you try another speedtest tonight (more than 1 if possible) and let me know the results?
