Plusnet are now expensive ISP!

BT is lots cheaper than Plusnet for up to 38Mbps downstream and up to 9.5Mbps upstream at £10 a months plus line rental at £16.99 in a 12 months contract. (£26.99 a month) total cost for 12 months £323.88 (FREE BT Sport Pack)
Plusnet is only offer up to 38Mbps downstream and up to 2Mbps upstream at £5.00 plus £15.95 (£20.95 for 6 months then £30.94 for the remaining 12 months) Total cost for 18 months £496.98 (BT Sport Pack are not free, must pay option)
So, overall plusnet are now the most expensive ISP for up to 38Mbps broadband and phone.
Don't forget Plusnet phone line rental going up from September. BT isn't.

I'm not sure how that conclusion has been arrived at. Your comparison is against 1 other ISP, for different lengths of contract/service too. Plus the BT package at £10 is a 20GB usage allowance, ours is Unlimited.

Re: Plusnet are now expensive ISP!

I am sorry Chris but I will not recommend Plusnet to anyone who are paying lots more with the current Fibre 38/2 with Phone. They are better off with BT 38/9.5 with 12 months overall bargain than Plusnet in 18 months contract. Sadly Plusnet are no longer the cheaper bargain for Fibre 38/2 with phone.

Re: Plusnet are now expensive ISP!

BT's £10/month fibre packages seem to only give 20Gb usage a month though where PlusNet is unlimited. I guess it all depends on how much data you consume.

Re: Plusnet are now expensive ISP!

BT's Unlimited starts at £12.50 from what I can see. Working it out over 18 months you pay more on BT than with us.

Strange. That doesn't show up on their main website if you navigate through their new customer packages. Looking at the URL is seems to be some kind of affiliate deal.

Re: Plusnet are now expensive ISP!

I stand corrected, directly on the BT site I was looking at the Unlimited Infinity 1 product was showing as £12.50 per month.

Re: Plusnet are now expensive ISP!

fwiw, existing BT line rental-only customers can also get Unlimited Infinity 1 on a 12 month contract for £10pcm.  I've seen this offer since Easter every time I log into my BT account. See attached jpeg.
It all looks tempting but the cost of Infinity 1 after the 12 months is up rises to staggering £23 pcm, and BT aren't known to be generous on their retention deals.  Of course, there is nothing to stop you leaving BT after 12 months.

BT will updated on their site later. ISPreview has the right stand of this offer. Credit to Mark Jackson for spot that!

This is not an offer for existing customers, so it's meaninless to comapare it to Plusnet's prices:

FREE BT Sport Pack

BT Sport is no longer free with BT unless BT TV is taken. Via Sky or Web there is now a £5pm fee (plus £4pm for HD), hence why is says “from free”. In addition BT Sport requires a 12 month contract with BT unlike Plusnet’s monthly contract (though I am sure it will change soon).
