Re: Migration Query

Nope, no banding.
Really not sure why upstream is restricted to 448Kbps to be honest with you.

Re: Migration Query

Thanks James,
It was only a short while ago that you uncapped the upload for me, it seems if BT see any sort of problem they just cap it again......so we may well be going through this process on a regular basis from previous history....
Do you know why they cap the upload?.....I just fail to see the benefit of it.......

Re: Migration Query

Hiya,
In theory, capping the upstream should allow for a fractionally faster downstream speed.
I note your point about the continual capping, but let's see how interleavage helps.

Right, order placed:
- Interleaving applied
- Upstream uncapped
- Increase traffic priority across the BT network just incase contention is any issue at all
Should complete tomorrow.

Has this work been completed?......had a discon about 8.00am this morning so I assume so......
If so its made no difference to the ping times, still 250ms plus....upload is a pathetic 450 despite having 11db snr.......and this process has degraded the download sync further.....now its 3703.....my snr is still 9db so I am convinced BT have set my snr margin to 9db or it would have increased with this latest loss of sync speed.....
My upload should be 750 ish and download should be 4000 ish............

Re: Migration Query

Just done a BT speed test if you want to have a look, according to that my upload is still 448........so maybe not uncapped yet.......but odd my router says 450.....

Re: Migration Query

Looks like we've not done just yet then Sad
We're going to have to ignore the speeds for now and try and find out what's causing that dreadful latency.  If we fix that, then it might also cause the speed to improve.
I'm also going to ignore the SNR for now.
I need you to run a quiet line test and tell me if you're hearing any audible noise on your telephone line - if so this needs reporting back to BT again please.
You can do this by dialling 17070 and selecting option 2.

Re: Migration Query

Right, thanks for your time on the phone (yet again).
We'll try this other router and see if it makes any difference at all.

Re: Migration Query

Thanks James,
Just done another quiet line test and there was loads of clicking, so we will report this as a voice fault to BT again now.......

Re: Migration Query

Ok we haven't in the end reported this as a voice fault......decided to do my own testing first........
Took face plate off master socket.......tried phone from connector in the back plate......there was still clicking.......so tried another phone and there was still clicking........tried 3 x filters and still clicking.........so decided to clean the contacts in the female connector in the back plate.......connected phone back up........NO CLICKING AT ALL...........tried the quiet line test several times over a 30 min period and didn't hear one click.........
So that would have appeared to have fixed the clicking........just in case its an intermittent problem will do some more quiet line tests later on......
Just done 10 x  ping tests and ping has come down to between 67 and 70ms.........
I assume with interleaving now on I will get larger ping times from the 32 to 38ms I used to get?

Re: Migration Query

I have also noticed the download throughput has improved significantly........before I cleaned the connector in the back plate if I watched a high def (720p) video on you tube the faded red line would just keep in front of the bold red line and I might get the occasional pause when the bold line caught up.....now the faded red line that indicates the download speed just whizzes along with no pauses.......
Dare I say it that I think we may have things sorted now.........(bound to put the mockers on it)
If things stay as they are I will be more than happy.......
