Re: Just Got Up And Running After 4 Weeks

Ok...just did that manual resync there at 6.45am..my SNRM upstream is still crazy at 23.8db and the downstream is normal 5.8db...what the bleep is that about ?
Shocked
My sync speed has increased to 9.268, so my Plusnet Current Line Speed will need nudged up to reflect it because it never goes up on it's own.
Undecided

Re: Just Got Up And Running After 4 Weeks

My Current Line Speed needs nudged up to 8.1Mb to reflect my sync of 9.268...it has went down since earlier...probably due to the the cap going through at 2am...but my sync is currently 9.268 from my manual resync at 6.45am

With upstream capped the associated SNRM will increase significantly above 6dB. It is use of that headroom which gives higher upstream sync speeds when upstream is uncapped. So what you are seeing is normal.

Re: Just Got Up And Running After 4 Weeks

It's also that enormous headroom on the upstream that means it is 99% certain it can safely be uncapped without it having any affect on the downstream.

Thank you Chris  Smiley
@ spraxyt & jelv...I looked back to before my upstream was uncapped and sure enough the upstream SNRM was exactly as it is now...
Totally forgot...thanks  Smiley

Re: Just Got Up And Running After 4 Weeks

I'd like to ask if a member of Plusnet staff would kindly nudge up my Plusnet Current Line Speed to reflect my higher sync speed.
It never does it automatically even after leaving it for a week one time and I always have to ask for it to be done manually.
My new sync speed is 9.287...thanks.  Smiley

Re: Just Got Up And Running After 4 Weeks

Well...I've left my line alone for 3 months now after getting my upload returned to normal to see how my line performed.I haven't been gateway hopping either, or checking my router stats every 5 mins.
The conclusion I've come to is this....in photography there is a phenomenon called pixel peeping...that means that when you zoom in on an image you will inevitably see artefacts and quality loss....even though the image is perfectly fine at normal zoom.
I find a similar thing with broadband...I call it bit peeping...generally you don't notice much of a difference in speed while browsing...I only really see the difference when downloading files...but if I constantly check my router stats then of course I see the loss in speed much more clearly.
What I have realised is that the problem is the DLM at the exchange....it will do it's job and intervene when my SNRM drops too low beyond my SNRM target of 6db and reset it back to 6db.
Of course the problem is that this mostly happens at the wrong time of day and I get a sync speed drop...so to keep my sync speed at it's highest I'd have to do a manual resync at my preferred time...in other words having to constantly fight the DLM.
Anyway...after that long experiment I'd like to ask a staff member if they would please uncap my upload speed...the upload speed as it is is pretty much useless and uncapping it makes no difference to my line stability.
Thanks  Smiley

Re: Just Got Up And Running After 4 Weeks

I've just placed the order for your upload speeds to become uncapped, I'd expect the order to complete by the end of the day tomorrow.

Re: Just Got Up And Running After 4 Weeks

I'd like to ask a member of staff to nudge up my Current Line Speed to reflect my new sync speed.
My new sync speed is 9.548 and my Current Line Speed hasn't updated...it's still stuck at 7.6 Mb
Thanks  Smiley
