Hi all
I was looking at this article and -nearly- every website on it is blocked.. I get the message:
Access to the websites listed on this page has been blocked pursuant to orders of the high court.
More information can be found at www.ukispcourtorders.co.uk
Why is that? Has something changed with Plusnet that I was not aware of? If not then how can I legally make sure I am not being censored?
I specifically asked before renewing my contract (I think last year) that no websites are blocked. Before someone accuses me of stealing I have a Limitless Odeon membership and an Amazon Prime account so that pretty much covers me for all my content that I like to watch, but I still don't like being blocked like this.
All but one works for me :) Not that i use them anyways
Most of those sites are still open for me.
Makes me laugh when they "shut down" Pirate Bay - its been shut down so many times.
Well read this article - https://torrentfreak.com/uk-considers-fines-force-search-engines-tackle-piracy-161027/
It will not stop there if people do not object to it this and draw a line. They're suggesting censoring search engines like Google or Bing for example. Once "piracy" is acceptable to censor they'll gladly censor other things to prevent "exposure" to the public!..

Suggesting?
It already happens.
So your ISP keeps a record of every site you visit ? fine but exactly what do they keep ?
Website address, time, date and length of visit.... fine but do they keep a record of everything you do on that site ?
For example I go on ebay and look at say guns, knives, mushrooms or whatever is all that logged ?
Even if it is my IP address logged as looking or downloading info from ebay how can the person using my IP address be identified, even harder if the address is in my name but several houses use my ip address and we all share the cost.
This would be a field day for a barrister.
I just want a proper yes or no answer so I can know for sure that Plusnet indeed is now blocking websites just like BT and other providers, you know the message such as:
Access to the websites listed on this page has been blocked pursuant to orders of the high court.

This is almost certainly the reason

Not necessarily, I just spoke to Plusnet support and as per high court order they are blocking these websites because it's a legal requirement?
Does this not breach the contract? As at the time they did not block any such websites, but now they do? Do I not get a right to exit because of this?
It's not just you

It was moved twice now to plusnet feedback when it's a general question on plusnet, not feedback... Why merge it when it's weeks behind and the prevous post got no proper answers from Plusnet? People and websites think Plusnet is not blocking websites, but now they are.
I merged the two threads so that anyone replying to the subsequent thread would easily see any previous replies.
This is much better sitting in Feedback as it is not asking for specific help and may be missed if placed in General Chat.
