High Speed Broadband web page

Do you think the estimated line speed should be changed if the customer is on fibre?
Quote
Estimated line speed:
2.5Mb (This may vary between 1.5Mb and 5Mb) - Checked on 2011-06-21 11:53:22
Current line speed:
37 Mb

Re: High Speed Broadband web page

My FTTC was installed today.
The page is showing:-
Estimated line speed:
1.0Mb (Accurate to within +/- 1Mbit) - Checked on 2011-06-02 19:25:40
Current line speed:
37 Mb
I'm actually achieving 30Mb - 32Mb in downloads & speed tests.

Re: High Speed Broadband web page

I would imagin this is because the system does not check to see if fibre is available - and as such gives you an estimated ADSL speed.
In the short term, it might be better if it says "ADSL speed"
I'm guessing there will be significant dev time to tweak this - because of course PN dont offer *just* fibre, they dont want to be telling new customers they can be getting an estimated speed of 32mb, when someones ordered an "up to 20mb" product.
Possible? aye, currently a high priority? i'd hope not  Wink

Re: High Speed Broadband web page

Hi Matt,
I'm not complaining.
BT's checker just stated that Fibre is not planned in my area within the next 6 months.
Plusnet's own checker estimated 14.6Mbps. So the fact my speed has jumped from a flaky 1Mbps on ADSL for years to a steady 30Mbps+ means I'm actually dead chuffed (apart from BT's overheating modem issue - temporarily cured by the installation of a desk fan pointing directly at the modem!
