Re: HELP - No broadband since activation 2 weeks ago

If the test login details don't work, could it be that the migration hasn't yet completed? Esp. if Mayfairnet was on Sky LLU...
I'd be interested to hear if your Sky details still work Smiley let me know how it turns out

That's the problem with splitting BT up. Openreach are only responsible connecting up the ADSL/PSTN/LLU to the outgoing line and that the PSTN work and the ADSL equipment sync. After that it's either the LLU company or BT Wholesale.

Re: HELP - No broadband since activation 2 weeks ago

SparckZero,
I was on a normal BT line, with calls placed through TalkTalk (i.e. not LLU). Broadband was through Sky. I cancelled Sky as my parents were going to be away for 2 months (and they didn't watch it much anyway) and downgraded to Freesat. At that time I asked for a MAC as Sky wouldn't let me take broadband without their TV service. I got the letter with the MAC without problem which said the MAC was valid for 30 days from 15 July. I tried to use the MAC on 8th August but this was rejected, reason being it was for a different phone number! I tried to get another MAC but instead Sky just cut me off on 15 August for some reason still unknown. They informed me that the marker would be cleared from my line ready for another provider from 22nd August.
At this point, Plusnet came in and authorised a new connection and you know the rest......
(I would like to point out that Plusnet were very helpful up to this point and that is why I have given them so many chances to get it right).
Shaileen.

So how have PN provided the BB service? If the MAC was not valid or accepted then the only way PN can provide a service is by a new provide.

Shaileen,
My apologies - I was under the impression that you'd gone through the Migration procedure as normal. Sounds like Sky really messed things up for you - however with James on the case, I'm sure it'll get sorted out soon  Smiley

Re: HELP - No broadband since activation 2 weeks ago

@itsme
I'm guessing it was a new provide as I couldn't supply a valid MAC. Broadband is active on the telephone line but I can't connect using either my Plusnet login details or the BT test ones (or my old Sky details although I'm not sure if they're correct). The Thomson modem shows a green "broadband" light but the "internet" light is either off or red.
This is what my account shows if it helps anybody (in approximate date order depending on when Question Topic was closed). It doesn't make much sense to me but it may do to someone. The only thing I can think of that may be causing my problem is that I have actually been migrated from Sky somehow and then Sky has ceased my broadband connection basically causing the Plusnet connection to connect to nothing but that is all guesswork as I have no idea how this whole migration thing works!

I more question - Why such large ping times on 0808 dial-up? It makes it impossible to do anything!

Even on dial-up I think pings should be better than ~1500ms  Cry

I do believe the James' Midas touch has done it. Broadband has gone live as of about 1 hour ago.  Grin  Fingers crossed it stays that way.
Thanks for your efforts James.
