Re: 2 months still no service

Hi abstruse21,
I'm glad to see there's movement on your broadband order!
The order is due to complete anytime up to midnight today. Apologies for the confusion, the text you received was an automatic text generated with the original completion date (16th), however, the expedite request is in place and our suppliers did confirm to us yesterday that the order should complete by midnight today.

Re: 2 months still no service

I hate to say it, but what are the odds that the line is stolen back to fix the neighbour's phone?
I'd suggest that when you find out when they expect an engineer having someone to keep checking your line while he is working might be an idea.

Re: 2 months still no service

I wish I had read this before joining PN in reply to abstruse21I find it appalling that any ISP can behave like this and get away with it. After seeing the TV adverts bragging how the customer comes first, with Uk Support and got voted best ISP by Which made me switch from my current ISP thinking the Customer Service would be far better.
PN took £32 upfront, allowed me to choose 3 installation dates, obviously not fully booked for my chosen slots or I would not have been able to select them! Don't reply to emails for days on end then choose an installation day 7 days later with a warning if no one is in at the time of appointment they will bill me £50, Talk about moving goal posts to suit! Where this may fit in with PN Appointments are you aware the lengthily time wait will leave me without service as my current isp required 30 days notice which overlaps with your chosen date!
All of this and tied with an 18 Month Sentence, OOPS I meant Contract  Cheesy Some People who break the law get less jail time and time off for good behavior, Go on PN stick to what you claim to do, make people proud and not annoyed! surely false advertising and lengthy waits with poor service are against Terms and Conditions?

It might help if I explained how leaving Plusnet works: You contact Plusnet and ask for a MAC. They take that is a notice of intention to leave - but don't set any date to terminate your service or close your account - read on. Plusnet continue to supply your service and bill you on the normal monthly dates - if the MAC is never used nothing changes. You give your MAC to the new supplier which they must use within 30 days of it having been issued - still Plusnet do nothing about termination. When your migration actually happens - even if that is weeks later Plusnet are notified by BT that you have migrated away - so the termination of the Plusnet broadband service is triggered by your successful migration. Plusnet then calculate the final bill or refund then when that is sorted closes your account.
If you are left without service at any point it will be down to the inflexibility of your existing provider - not Plusnet's fault. The system is supposed to allow for unexpected delays (e.g. adverse weather meaning all engineers are fault fixing).

Re: 2 months still no service

@Cisco - I understand completely.. slow / non-existent replies are not good enough. And they admit this is a problem.
Though in your case I suspect appointment issues and delays are more likely OpenReach than Plusnet..
Coming here was a good call though, if you post a new thread its likely that someone will pick up on whats going on and keep an eye on your communication. I know after reading my thread you can easily doubt that! But since using the forum things have improved from a Plusnet customer service point in my case. Wish I had come here much sooner in fact.
Openreach of course are in a world of their own. Many people have appointment issues with them (not limited to Plusnet customers). Not to say you shouldn't chase Plusnet to chase these things up! You definitely should..
@Jelv.. I did consider this possibility but it seems more like they have just disturbed the neighbours lines as they still have some signal albeit a crappy one.
Hoping they don't affect mine when they fix it, not that it would surprise me judging by BTOR's performance so far.
@Linn Thanks for just double checking that. I did suspect it might be the case but nice to have confirmation!
@gphancock.. Limbo is never fun! I feel for you, I really do lol. One day in the future you will have to come out to the farm and we can recount those good old days when we had all these issues with Plusnet & BTOR & SKY..over a nice cool drink in the sun. Hopefully we will of course be trouble free by then! I say trouble free.. our baby is due next month and that's 18+ years of new troubles for me  Grin
My only problem now is my current impatience knowing my service could be live today and I am sitting at work watching the clock.. You have no idea how much enjoyment I will get roaming the house connecting up the computer.. xbox.. phone.. the wife's tablet.. I've anticipated it for so long now its actually going to feel like a treat not a chore!

Re: 2 months still no service

No, limbo is never fun and it feels like I am at the mercy of SKY atm.  Roll_eyes I like the idea of coming out to the farm for that nice cool drink and reminiscing about the old Plusnet, BTOR and SKY says. (We must not forget Ofcom and BT Wholesale in these sorry sagas and I would not want them to be left out!) Wink
A baby provides a lifetime of troubles and not just 18 years  Wink

if anyone is listening.. anychance of pressing the computer says yes button to make it live!
and yes.. its like 3am xmas morning and not being able to open the presents i can see under tree from between the bannisters at the top of the stairs..

Re: 2 months still no service

Almost christmas.. not quite
Average download speed 0.4.. hit 0.14 at one point..  Undecided and this is almost midnight.. hate to think what it'll be like at peak times
Average upload 0.25..
pings between 150 and 350+
Almost feels like dial-up again.. my phone data felt much faster..
Just updating all my equipment that's been offline this past few months will take days / a week at best at those speeds.
