A year ago today Colin O installed SMF, the software that powers our forums on our Beta site servers. Shortly after that, we invited a whole bunch of customers on to it to let us know what they thought. We've had an interesting first year. There have been a few bugs and you guys have given us a lot of help with de-bugging. Some of you have even developed code for us. We've had a complete redesign, at least 2 full updates of the core software running the site and one large hardware migration. We've had situations where the main PlusNet site has disappeared, leaving the Community site as our primary presence on the web. In the past, the forums would have gone down with the PlusNet site so this is a great improvement. We've also got well and truly stuck into blogging. We've blogged about traffic management, the Macbook Air, even gardening! Our end of day reports have also given you the chance to find out exactly what's going on at here at PlusNet. Most importantly though, we've got customers from all of our original brands (Force9, Free-Online, Plus.net.uk, PlusNet, Metronet) getting along swimmingly, talking and supporting each other in ONE place. Have a look below and you'll see the original concept that was created for the Community site back in late 2006. It had changed a lot by the time you guys got to see it.
Eventually we launched with the skin found below. We realised once it was launched that the skin was similar in colours to the PlusNet site even though the original brief had been to use colours that were different to those used on any of our brands. Oops!
In the next year we are looking forward to PUG working closer with our community to help us understand what you all really want. We'll also be giving you the chance to create support pages and make changes to existing help and support material. We're also planning a big update to the latest version of Wordpress. If you have any ideas for new features or the direction you'd like us to take, please add them as comments on this blog. Ok, everyone all together now. 1, 2, 3 Happy Birthday Day to you! Happy Birthday Day to you! Happy Birthday Dear Community Happy Birthday to you!
