usb1 on pnhub1

Hi guys,

I found it very useful that plusnet router has usb port and i have connected my usb based docking station to the router and use it directly over the network. However, i have doubts about security.

My main question is: Can any other plusnet user access files on my docking station when it's up and running and connected to adsl router's usb port ?

Is there any actions i can take to protect files and folders ?

Only devices on your local network can see the usb device.

Re: usb1 on pnhub1

So, do i understand rightly that any request from other of local network won't get in and be dropped by your firewall, etc. ?

Btw, is it possible to password protect files over usb share ?

More or less, yes. If you leave the hub with the default settings it won’t be visible to the outside world.

Password protection/ encryption depends on various factors.

@aghayevi

Be aware that the USB port on a Hub One uses the SMB1 protocol, see https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/storage-at-microsoft/stop-using-smb1/ba-p/425858
