router speed

Apologies if I am revisiting an existing topic but I am new to this community, and have not found anything. Question: Is there a free app for my iphone that would enable me to test the router signal speed/strength in various parts of the house? The OpenReach engineer had one and I was very impressed. His one is call Telstra but only available to them under license. He says there is also a BT one. However not being a BT customer I cannot access and checkout their general app.

Many thanks

Re: router speed

@mk46 welcome to the community.

Apple have not made using free utilities to work on their devices easy with many features being locked.

The default speedtest used by many is 'ookla Speedtest' which you may already know about, there are others.

WiFi signal strength can be checked using the 'AirPort Utility' which is downloaded free from the App Store.

Instructions how to use it are here -> https://wifivitae.com/2020/10/08/airport-utility/

Android devices have a more open approach to wifi analyser with many free with Ads.

Re: router speed

Fix

Dear HTH, Thank you very much for your help. In fact in the meantime I found a free app (which I downloaded to my iphone) called Wi-Fi SweetSpots that measures and records signal strength in Mbps. I can't vouch for its accuracy but it tallies with the values the OpenReach engineer found on his device. MK46.
