Plusnet do not block VPNs. If your other devices are connecting then this is a configuration problem at your end.
Plusnet agents are trained to help customers connect a hub to the Internet. Your type of configuration lies outside of this scope. I can only assume that the agent was trying to improve the wireless performance of the Hub 2.
If you want to persevere with this configuration then the @MisterW suggestion that this could be a port forwarding problem is the next thing to investigate. It could have been that the reset triggered a firmware update that stopped UPnP making the connection.

@longshanks67 what is the LAN IP of the Asus set to ? AIUI by default dd-wrt will set a default of 192.168.1.1. That's not going to work because its the same subnet as the Hub 2.

When this problem manifested itself following the adjustment made to my Hub2 by Plusnet I spent many hours tinkering with my kit, spending many many minutes on the phone with Plusnet than at the end of the day I had to conclude that Plusnet must be blocking my VPN there was no other explanation. They caused the problem and I am still stuck with it. I have posted on the community site and have received some good advice of which I am very grateful. But for me the end user my setup stoped working as far as my VPN goes and has not worked since which is bloody annoying.
Armed with the advice given here from the community I will hopefully solve this problem, I am not a young commuter wizzkid just an ageing hobbyist who needs help.

@longshanks67 Ok, so that should be able to work as long as
The WAN configuration of the Asus is set to DHCP
OR
its set to a static IP in the range 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.63 i.e in the same subnet as the Hub 2 but out of its dhcp range
Maybe it would be easier if you post the WAN & VPN client configuration details of the Asus ( redact any username/passwords if there are any ) then people here could check to see where the problem may be

Hello again,
Further to my last reply my problem has got worse in as much as I cannot access the setup on my second router which I use for my VPN. I have it connected to a laptop Lan to the Wan port on the router and although I enter the the correct ip address into the address bar on my browser it reports back “unable to connect to server” try again. Am I doing this right? As I originally stated that since Plusnet tinkered with my hub2 settings I have lost my VPN and I am now at a loss at what to do

Your laptop should be connected toto a LAN port on the router

On occasions I get confused, this is one of them!
I know you said it has been broken by plusnet, but have you considered following @Baldrick1 suggestion and use the Hub Two in bridge mode.
This way all your devices will be on the same network in your case 192.168.3.0 /24
Or am I missing something?

My annoyance is that now I do not have my VPN not my fault Plusnet’s fault, a problem I am struggling to rectify being that I am only an ageing tinkerer and not a full on techie. With research I managed to get a VPN set up for all my devices via a dd-wrt second router and all worked fine. Now what do I do? help and advice through the community is very much appreciated though.

With respect this is not Plusnet’s fault. You had a bizarre non standard arrangement when you contacted Plusnet about your speed. Plusnet reset your hub and may or may not have restored the speed available from their supplied hub. That is where their responsibility ends.
There are several competent fellow customers following this thread who can talk you through getting this working for you in simple to follow instructions. If you don’t understand any you only have to ask. Hence I suggest that you forget that it’s all Plusnet’s fault and start again.
No doubt others will advise if I am wrong but to précis the way I think that it should be set up:
1. Set the Hub 2 to Bridge mode. This should show a pink light,
2. Connect the DSL lead between your BT Master socket DSL output on the filter and the Hub 2.
3. Connect one of the yellow LAN sockets (NOT the red labelled WAN port) on the Hub 2 to whichever port that you used on your dd-wrt router.
If you don’t understand any of these steps or it doesn’t work then come back and tell us.
Note that the Hub 2 will no longer work as a router so you can’t use it’s wireless or Ethernet outputs to provide Internet access to your other devices.

Can you please confirm the following?
You are attempting to use a VPN Client to connect all your home devices to your chosen VPN provider?
This VPN client is running on the dd-wrt (Asus) router ?
From reading this thread you appear to have two LAN (networks)?
1) Hub Two 192.168.1.0/24 - Hub Two is 192.168.1.254
2) Asus router 192.168.3.0/24 - router is 192.168.3.1 the WAN address 192.168.1.???
Is it your intention to be able to connect to the VPN client from both LAN?
If so how do the devices on the Hub Two LAN know how to connect to the 192.168.3.0/24 network of the Asus router to get a VPN connection?
Using the Hub Two in bridge mode should hopefully resolve the issue as all you devices will have the same network address range IP.

Hello Dan thanks for the help.
I have the Asus dd - wrt set up for Nord vpn 192.168.3.1 the Wan port connected to a lan port on my Hub2
my Hub 2 is connected to the internet via ethernet, my desktop is connected to the Hub 2 via ethernet cable.
I use wifi on both routers, the Asus I mainly use for wifi streaming and banking whilst the Hub2 is used for the families ipads and laptops on which I can select either dd-wrt or my plusnet channel if needed.

Hi, the Wan connection type is sett to auto config DHCP
I have also discovered that the IP address for the Asus is the same as the hub2 whereas it wasn’t before all this happened and I haven’t tinkered or changed anything.
